Update: We finally were able to schedule a consultation with Dr. Hanson and he appears very knowledgeable and was able to explain procedure in detail and answer our questions. Wish would not have to wait 4 weeks. Thanks to Jackie who was kind and helped to make the consultation happen, therefore I am changing my initial review from 1 to 3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Attempted to schedule a virtual consultation with Dr. Hanson as an option advertised on the clinic website. Was told they need all the records, then they will schedule a consult. After mailing all the records and a CD, I never received any updates on when my consultation will be scheduled. When called was promised to receive a call the following week but again have not heard anything. Asked to at least return the CD as I am going to a different provider now and even that could not be accomplished. Unfortunately very poor impression of this clinic and now reading other reviews I am glad I did not choose to receive care there. It's sad as perhaps Dr. Hanson is a good MD but since I never got a chance to meet with him, my overall rating for this facility is low.

Dr Hanson recently did a procedure to clean up some suspected L4-L5 nerve compression. I knew about Dr Hanson from a prior successful S1-L5 spine fusion, and had no hesitation to come back and have this follow up done. I got 2nd opinions elsewhere and felt that Dr Hanson’s gameplan was best. His staff are great, With a special mention A+ for Brianna who sets everything up. The MSP Greenway surgery center people were great too. I would definitely say my interactions with Dr Hanson and the MSI organization in general is a “ Two Thumbs Up” rating. Many thanks for everything !!!!

DR Hanson is the only licensed doctor or surgeon at Minnesota spine Institute . it’s unfortunate I have to write a bad review because I had really high hopes for the procedure I was getting done. Because I was having back pain Dr.Hanson recommended I get a nerve transection in my lumbar back. I felt like Dr.Hanson didn’t take much time to diagnose my injury. Post surgery I started having tingling and coldness in my feet, tingling in my fingers, and prickling feeling throughout my entire body. When I reached out to Dr.Hanson NUMEROUS times, I was given no help. His receptionist did not allow me to make a follow up appointment with him, and claimed they were booked weeks and weeks out, He was extremely hard for me to get into contact with and a few weeks after surgery he discharged me from the clinic. I had to see neurologists, chiropractors, pain doctors and therapist because of my ongoing problems. These doctors agreed the procedure I got was completely unnecessary. They didn’t think I needed surgery. It’s been over a year and I still am having these post surgery issues. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I don’t want people to have to go through what I went through God bless you all. 🙏

Dr. Hansen and his STAFF (whose names I don't recall right now but they know who I am everytime I call.) has been great to deal with. He is extremely innovative and knowledgeable. He found a way to fix my spondylosis in my low back without doing open back surgery after I had 2 other Dr say that was the only possible solution.

Every patient is different and everyone has different circumstances. We provide a free consultation to learn about you, review any MRI images, and to discuss all of your options. Conservative, non-surgical treatments are always the first option. But if such treatments have been tried and found to be non-effective, then surgical options are discussed.
