When I first came to Michigan with my husband in 2019 we had very little and not the best financial situation. Then, COVID hit. The first two years I lived here SOS food pantry, along with St. John the Baptist's pantry, kept us from starving. Sometimes we had to cheat and try to get extra so we could both eat. The workers here were never rude or judgemental. I always felt welcome. It was a hike there on foot, and carting food back but somehow we did it. I am so glad that SOS and these workers exist. I am so glad this service was here. If you are in a similar situation and are looking for food, go here.

Hi, the SOS located on River St is where their food pantry is located. If you call they will do an intake over the phone to see if you qualify, how many adults & children reside in your home, your income & expenses. They have a wonderful pantry that in addition to offering food, also offers personal items, such as toothpaste, tooth brush, soap, laundry detergent, lotion, razors, shaving cream, etc. If you think that you'll still be struggling over Christmas, SIGN UP NOW FOR THEIR CHRISTMAS BASKETS WHICH PROVIDE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO SERVE A FULL & TASTY CHRISTMAS DINNER:). ADDITIONALLY, CHECK OUT THE HOPE CLINIC FOR HELP WITH FOOD, PERSONAL ITEMS, FRESH FRUITS & VEGGIES, AS WELL AS SOME FINANCIAL HELP & MEDICAL HELP. THEY HAVE A DENTIST OFFICE LOCATED RIGHT ON THE OPPOSITE END OF THEIR BUILDING ON HARRIET ST. THEY ARE AWESOME, LOVING, PEOPLE. EVEN HAVE ACCESS TO FREE ON SITE LAUNDRY MAT & PROVIDE YOU WITH LAUNDRY SOAP, SOFTENER, & DRYER SHEETS AT NO CHARGE TO YOU.
