The FernCare free clinic staff are amazing. I was not there long, they got me and took care of me right away. The PA that took care of me was amazing. I'm definitely coming back just to give a donation. The work those ladies and gentlemen do is volunteer so I want to make sure that continues. Thank you to all the staff on a job well done.

This clinic is great! The staff is so friendly and professional, super helpful and non judgmental. They have their own lab and pharmacy and everything is free of charge. Really appreciative of this clinic.

Do I pay to pull my teeth

I heard that the Clinics were being given a grant so as to help those who have no medical ins. True or False? Also, I have a son who is in badly need of medical help & I am in no position to help him, can he come to your clinic? We live in Ferndale.

Not exactly true. FernCare has held clinics since 2008. We keep our doors open with help from many funding sources--corporate sponsors, individual donors, fundraisers, raffles, bequests, special purpose fund drives, and grants. We write a.lot.of.grants! They're a lot of work and we are so thankful when one is awarded to us.

I heard your free clinic accepts unused prescriptions medications. Is that true?

We accept unused, no longer used, and expired medications for secure, environmentally approved destruction. We want to help you dispose of these meds in order to keep meds off the street, and so that you can be secure in the knowledge that you are doing your bit for the environment.

Do you take used pill bottles. I have a big bag of them. Most still have labels on them. LMK.

We stopped because of the coronavirus. Doubtful that we will take them in the future. Please carefully obscure personal information and recycle the containers.

Where can I go the Dentist in Royal Oak area without insurance? I have a teeth in the front of my mouth that's keeping me from eating. The teeth is falling into my food!

Alongside the door that leads to Ferncare has a rack of forms for different health concerns. Look for the one for dental. Ask if there isn't one. While Ferncare will help as much as they can, they will only be able to refer you to the locations stated on the list since they don't have dentist volunteers. Also, as far I know, they are only seeing established patients unless new patients go in on one of Mondays that is designated for new patients.

Christopher's answer is not exactly correct. FernCare does not charge for anything. It doesn't have dental services, but can refer you to some low-cost dental services by other organizations.

Can you walk in

No, you do actually need to make an appointment before. Just call during regular office hours & ask about being seen. Qualifications are only that you be a tri-county area citizen between 18-65 and have no health insurance. They'll also help you sign up for Medicaid.
