A safe and beautiful trailhead. There are benches and great markings throughout the trail. It is also associated with the larger trail. There is a lot of traffic of walkers, runners, and bikers. I highly recommend stopping by. It certainly is one of my favorite places in the area.

This trail is a gem. There is a decent sized parking lot at the trailhead. You can either walk the loop of the nature trail or enjoy the West Bloomfield trail, or both! Beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. This is one of my favorite trails to walk after a long day at work or over the weekend. I always recommend this trail system.

Questions & Answers

Is there a fee to enter here.

Matt Long | Nov 2, 2021

No, and there is also free parking off Arrowhead Rd just south of Pontiac Trail. The biking trail goes east/west and the nature hiking trails start across the bike trail from the parking lot. One other - Orchard Lake Nature Sanctuary offers nice free trails too just a few minutes drive east of WB Nature Preserve off Pontiac Trail. Do note parking lot holds fewer cars however though there is usually space.

Being as it is a nature preserve, I would have assume there is no fishing. I haven't seen anything on the website and I cannot remember what is stated on signs there.

Is it possible to park near the water?

That's depends on what you consider "near" and whether you're talking about Woodpecker lake. The walk from the parking lot is very short (.4 miles to the lookout). There's other bodies of water around as well that are different distances but that lake is probably the closest.
