I wasn't trying to take photos for here so what's being shown is my oldest son Pat and Leanna, my grandson Isaiah and Loki. Crabbing and having the absolute times of their lives! On a side note the crabs tasted 😎 Most days you can find some of the friendliest people anywhere to pass the time with as you look out across the harbor, Ediz Hook and on to Canada. Just off the Pier there's good food and drink and a motel is actually located just across the parking lot.

Handicapped ♿ Accessible Elevator 🛗 Free Parking Shops are filled with works from local artists 🎨 Downriggers is Outstanding After dinner, walk on the Pier, the night time lights are incredible.

This pier is peaceful, slow, and not crowded on weekdays. I came from Seattle to here for a road trip. I love the scenery and atmosphere here. I could immerse myself in this beautiful nature.

I see people fishing and yes they do catch them just check city licenses and rules.
Decades ago, maybe. But know this; 1) salmon fishing is closed in this area 2) if you were to catch a Chinook, or any salmon from the pier, it would be a significant challenge to land it, and unless you have an extremely long handled net, you would have to beach it, navigating your way from the pier. Also, it is illegal to remove a wild salmon from the water, so unless you have incredible eyesight and a way to release a wild salmon from the pier deck level to the water, this will not work. It's probably why nobody tries to fish for salmon from the pier.
Most likely to catch a flounder,. Halibut if you're lucky. Bottom fish mostly.
I caught a picture of one on the pier. It was made of stone
You can check season status for Port Angeles (WA Dept. Of Fish and Wildlife marine area 6) at this website https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfishing-regulations/crab/seasons-areas/east-juan-de-fuca-strait-port-angeles-harbor
We have the dock just west of City Pier and we have commercial fishing boats in and out all the time City Pier has cruise ships docking there frequently.
I think about 12-14ft if I remember correctly.. then a 30 ft observation tower
