Typical liberal inner-city library. This place is more of a homeless rec center than a library. Every street person in Tacoma must be here. The place smells like a locker room. They all come with back packs and suit cases and even bed rolls. They all know each other by the way they carry on. The only saving grace is that the staff are quite helpful.

Visited Tacoma for a weekend and needed to print some documents. It was easy to sign up for an Internet Only library card, and the staff were welcoming and helped us learn how to use the system. Very quiet space!

Wonderful staff, great layout, with tons of books in the upstairs fiction section! I would like to see more books in the new fiction area up front. And there should be more electrical outlets for those who bring their own laptops, in the upstairs areas (non-children sections).

As of last week, all Tacoma Public Library branches are fully open during normal operating hours. Main is restricted to the lobby only, due to construction on th 2nd floor and overdue repairs to the public elevator. TPL currently requires patrons and staff to wear a mask while inside the branch building.

Hi there, the Moore Branch will have free AARP tax assistance on Wednesdays, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the Main Branch will have free VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout February, March, and part of April.
