Because I am a big fan of the Forged in Fire show, as a gift my wife told me to find a place to forge a knife and make a trip of it. After a lot of searching options and reviews online I decided on the Drunken Smithy. Hopped on the motorcycle and 1200 miles later I was in a class to make a knife. The instructors are excellent, showing you what you need to know, helping where needed and having fun the whole time. I chose to make a Damascus knife, which was kind of a big first project even though you start with a premade billet. The staff got me through all the extra steps that choice required and I came out of it with a beautiful knife that I will add a handle to later. I was the 11th wheel in a class of 5 couples, but everyone was great and you worked in small groups based on what you were making. Dinner was provided - sausages roasted over a forge and stuff to go with. Once we were all done, there was ax throwing and fun that lasted well past the scheduled class time. These folks really love what they are doing. A+ experience

Nick, Lana, and Michael were absolutely amazing! The pick a project workshop was so much fun. They walked us through each step of the forging process, and made our time at The Drunken Smithy incredible! It was also super fun to hang out after, throwing axes and sharing food. Highly recommend!!
