I can not recommend Parkview Apartments, Savoy, Illinois, to anyone. In fact, I highly suggest you look elsewhere if you are considering Parkview Senior Apartments for either yourself or a relative. To me, the negatives far outweigh the positives. The location is good, and driving by, it looks fine. It’s right next to a park and the grounds are well-kept. But here are a few of the problems I observed: Entrance doors are a major issue here. They are heavy & difficult to unlock and open. A keypad unlocking system has never been implemented for tenants, although during tours staff demonstrate it and say it is operational. The washers and dryers are old and often broken and left unfixed for months. The carpeting in the hallways is disgusting - see photo of one of the hallways in better condition. Most are worse than this. Major portions of the main covered entrance broke off and crashed to the ground recently. Cracks were visible for months and ignored. Luckily no one was hurt. Maintenance is a major issue. It took 4 visits for maintenance to repair a simple bathroom sink leak in my apartment. The property manager has poor people skills. She talks down to tenants. The office doors are often locked during office hours, and the office hours are often simply not observed. There were other issues. But the thing that I could not put up with was BEDBUGS. After living there for only 3 months, I found 2 bedbugs in my apartment. Now, I understand that any hotel, apartment complex, etc. can experience problems with bedbugs, but management was negligent in taking care of it. It is imperative to not only treat an apartment that has bedbugs, but also all the rooms and apartments adjacent and across from the apartment. Otherwise, the bedbugs just move from one place to the next and come back. My apartment was treated twice, two weeks apart, but management did not have the other nearby apartments and mechanical rooms treated. Evidently a tenant has to report a bedbug sighting before they do anything about that particular apartment only. A neighbor across the hall later said he was originally told he had beetles, not bedbugs, when he reported he had them in his apartment, thus delaying his apartment being treated. Because the proper protocols were not observed in treating adjacent apartments, there was a high likelihood that the bedbugs would come back, and I’d have to go through the same thing all over again in a few months. This was the final straw for me. I moved back to where I had previously lived and did not stay another night in the apartment. I only returned to do all the prep work prior to spraying, which is an ordeal in itself, and of course, moving my things. Management used the COVID Pandemic as an excuse for many of the problems there, but I think it all points to poor management. I had options; I didn’t have to remain there. But many residents don’t have options, and the several I talked with are just resigned to putting up with the ongoing problems at Parkview. I’m sure some tenants are comfortable there. Many tenants have lived there for years and will continue to do so. Some told me that it used to be a much better place to live, that until the last 4 or 5 years, it was maintained and managed much better. Perhaps it will improve in the future. But my advice? Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

This place is the slums! We are not allowed to use the kitchen/ dining room the gym; computer room or the library. Our so called manager tries to make her own rules we will be glad when she leaves.

Recently out-side sprinklers were turned on. A pipe was broke flooding My apartment & 1next to me. Now! They are demanding that I dry out the carpet so they can shampoo it. I have been in contact with corporate. I do not recommend this place to an to one.

I met with Katherine Miller today. She was patient and sweet. The minute I walked in I felt welcome by the staff and people who live there, both. I filled out paperwork immediately, and am hoping to move in within 30 days. I CAN'T WAIT!!
