My grandson and I went in 2017, it was a great experience. Seems like a family business,the instructor was a no nonsense,down to earth ,personable gentlemen,he wasn’t stiff or hard, but you didn’t shoot until you learned. Now its 2020 and I’m gonna call tomorrow,i have a new gun and want proper professional guidance about it,when i took my grandson i picked from available time slots and i paid in advance,only because it was a surprise for his birthday. I’m pretty sure you wont be displeased when you go.

I saw some kids with there parents shooting in the range last time I went. Not sure if age limits. Firearms vary and are your basic , all glocks, a couple Smith n Wesson, sig sauer, etc.

Hi Sam, I did not reserve ahead of time. They have maybe 8 lanes. I had no wait. But, it wouldn’t hurt to call and check in case they’re doing a class.

They do have eye protection and ear protection if you need it. You can rent it. I think it's $1 for safety glasses and Less than that for earplugs. You can get your own safety glasses and earplugs at any hardware store but if you forget then they do have them for you. The Marksman is an awesome shooting range with very skilled employees. I love going there. They also offer concealed carry permit classes and safety classes. Give the Marksman some love, JP.

Hi Sheila We are primarily a pistol range. The only rifle allowed would be chambered in 22lr.

I'm going to say we will not be able to allow that at our range due to concerns for other customers' safety.

We permit the use of 5.56 on our range only with the purchase of our range ammunition. We currently do not have any in stock and we are unsure of then it will become available again. We are primarily a handgun range.

You are permitted to shoot a 22lr rifle at our range. Please keep in mind that the range is by appointment. An individual must be 21 years of age or older and must know how to operate the firearm with out assistance.

We do allow 40 caliber pistols to be shot at our range. Keep in mind that the range is by appointment.

Hi Jay, We do not allow pistol caliber carbines on the range. The only center fire rifle we will allow is 5.56 with the purchase of our frangible ammunition.

It's either 50 or 55gr. The 556 side is 25yrds. Do keep in mind that the range is by appointment.

Yes. They have several dozen pistols to rent. The only catch is that you buy their ammo for the rental, not bring your own.

By what I understand, it's pistol calibers only. I have seen rifles in there before, but I *believe* the ammo has to be frangible. It's best to call them directly & ask.

The best place to bow shoot is Newport News park. You will have to do a safety class but you can shoot anytime for $2 or get a season pass for $30. It is a very nice outdoor range with occasional 3D shoots hosted by the park.
