We had the pleasure of attending Carney’s wedding on September 18th, 2022. A celebration of our loved ones was a beautiful event. However, the execution of the ceremony was poorly conducted based on the lack of the coordinator’s assistance (Nicole). The ceremony was lacking in the following areas: timeliness of the wedding, which was supposed to begin at 3 pm but did not start until approximately 4:15 pm due to everyone looking for the coordinator. The wedding coordinator did not seat the guest, and I had to take charge in ultimately seat the guest by telling them which side to sit on. Not sure the introduction of the guest party was supposed to be done by the D.J; in my experience of weddings including my own, the wedding coordinator was responsible for the introduction. The dinner table was not set up completely based on what the Carney’s had initially paid for (i.e., missing table lights, no numbers, etc.) For example, the D.J said the tables were numbered for each table to be called for buffet, but no tables had numbers on them. She did not give guidance to each table to get up to retrieve their food. She did not let the photographer be aware of taking pictures of the groomsmen before getting dressed to capture special moments. She did not direct guests where they could place their gifts/cards and the family members/wedding party had to step in and handle the situation. She was nonchalant about the cake not being at the event but eventually later after the event was over, she came about to say the cake was in the freezer the entire time. This caused an inconvenience for the wedding party and guests, as someone had to run out quickly to purchase a cake and decorate it. Not providing a service and the items stated would be in the event is a breach of contract. At the end of the night, instead of having a clean-up crew, the guest was asked by Nicole to help assist with clean up. All these miscues appear to be just a true indicator that Nicole did not put any effort into planning or executing this wedding, which isn’t surprising since Nicole was overheard by me, who was talking to the bartender/staff member when she came inside the building at the event, “At this point, I’m just winging it. I have seen enough of weddings to know what to do.” In the process of all the chaos, the coordinator is known to be the pivotal person on a couple’s special day unfortunately, Nicole did not fulfill her contractual obligations and duties. This took away from the wedding couple’s special moment and added more stress.
