They are wonderful

Where to start. My uncle was laid to rest on January 30th, 2022. Even though we didn't get a chance to be extremely close there was always love there. Sadly, even more-so now that he's gone. What I love most about Deacon Laveil V. Seay -- or "Uncle Buster" as we call him -- was the family he will forever be a part of. He is one of 10 kids. Yep, seven uncles and three aunts. All loud, boisterous and headstrong people. But the love is always there. Basically they'll be down for you like four flat tires if you need. Each of them have played an integral role in my upbringing and as an adult I feel like it's my turn to be down for them. Although four of them are now gone, the remaining six hold a very beloved place in my heart. To "Highland Hills Funeral Home and Crematory" -- the way you disrespected my family at their brother's funeral is beyond imaginable. Leaving all of their names out of the obituary/program is still jarring to think about. Especially after learning some of them met with your Funeral Director -- George Baker Jr. -- prior to the service. It's jarring to have been asked to "stand for the family" ...when we are the family. It's jarring for my brother to have been asked to "step back because viewing is only for the family at this time." It's jarring for "Uncle Buster's" siblings to not have been given the opportunity to fully be in the room emotionally and experience their brother one last time. It's even still jarring writing this. I'm embarrassed by the "copy & paste" job the service program clearly underwent. The lack of a proofreader -- of any kind -- has now left my uncle immortalized on paper in an absolutely unacceptable way. With numerous grammatical errors, a lack of any punctuation...and someone else's name attached to the acknowledgments on the back of the program we don't even know. The lack of preparation, actual knowledge of who the family is and overall carelessness throughout the service will not be forgotten. While I'm angry no acknowledgment or oversight was given to the actual family; it's almost as if...no...just like they didn't exist. I'm deeply saddened this is one of the lasting memories my entire family will have of my uncle, Laveil "Buster" Seay. If there was a zero star rating "Highland Hills Funeral Home and Crematory" would certainly get it.

Zero stars, this has been the most stressful time of my life. My mother passed in October. We went through this company to handle funeral services, as a referral from my aunt. The funeral itself was beautiful. They even donated the limo to us, because they knew my aunt. But the disrespect and disregard for me, my husband, and my brothers after the funeral, was over the top. They told my husband that he couldn't ride behind the limo. Even though me and my brothers were in the car with him. Literally told him to back up and move out of the way. Then, the limo and the hearse left without us to go to the burial site. They messed up my mother's death certificate, misspelled her name and mine, and took 2 months to get it amended. They didn't even tell me that I had to bring in the old ones to have them swapped out, until literally 2 days ago. I could've done that 2 months ago, when i told them it was wrong. I called literally every few days, for 2 months, to check to see if it was amended. SMH. I showed up here with my husband and Father in law today. Gave them the old ones and they sent someone to the heath department to swap them out. I'm literally sitting here waiting for him to get back, since it's down the street from here. I believe they are all about the money. Once they've been paid, they don't care. I'm so hurt and so disappointed. Never again...
