Cute little planetarium. Small but filled with passionate people.

The Exibit was interesting, although the planetarium itself is tiny. However, the dome presentation was by far the worst and most tedious I've seen in all planetariums I've ever visited. The dude spoke for literally 40 minutes before playing the video. Guys... nobody is there to see you talking with slides and make advertising for Slooh. I was holding myself from walking away for a long time. It was tedious and complete not the reason why we were there. I was in a group of 4 people and we all felt exactly the same. Tip... Cut the bs introduction and reduce it to 5 minutes, then play the video, which is the only thing we care about paying to watch. You're welcome. This felt like waiting a 40 minute ad to pass before you are able to watch your YouTube video. The video is super old, with poor cgi and outdated information. It's impressive how you guys would not get better content. If I ever have the chance to visit Reno again, this planetarium will not be among the attractions I'll go.

An enjoyable and informative experience, from the lecture portion to the immersive "movie" section. If you're at all into astronomy, this is worth checking out.

Hi Mayh, It sounds like an interesting specimen! Possibly an iron-nickel meteorite or magnetite? I wish we had the equipment and personnel who could do an analysis for you. Unfortunately, we don't have those here at UNR. However, there are laboratories you can look for online that analyze and certify. Also there are sites that can help you evaluate your rock, like Geoff Notkin's (from Meteorite Men). We don't endorse any particular lab or expert, but his website might be helpful to look at? It's https://aerolite.org/. We'd love to hear the results if you decide to pay for a lab to have it analyzed. Hope your search is fun and successful!
Yes! The first show (3 pm on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays) is very kid-and-family- friendly. The Exhibit Hall and other exhibit areas have lots of fun science and science fiction displays, and the Be The Astronaut components have cool hands-on components, including a simulated drive on the Moon or Mars. The Gravity Well is always a fun activity for kids, too!
All ages will enjoy
They are currently open 3 days a week with scheduled show times at 3pm 5pm and 7pm. Visit their website to make a reservation. It's very worth it.
Hi! We can welcome working service animals, but, except for special educational programs like "Paws to Read," we are not able to accommodate other animals. (However, we do love them :-)
The planetarium is closed until further notice. Watch the website to see when it will reopen.
The price for the movie includes the exhibits. Or you can see just the exhibits for a smaller fee.
Yes, there is. There are several places in the theater where a service dog would have room to sit by you.
