This place is such a disservice to music lovers and collectors in Washoe County! How dare they lie about fact the resell valuable albums on eBay and music collectors in the States and overseas, yet they buy from unknowing customers for pennies, no wear near real value! They insulted me nt want to buy DECCA LPS dating from 1920/30 era from a few bucks, knowing full well resale is in the hundreds! May that store never burn down!!

Anytime I'm in reno from fallon, I love to go to the back yard sales. This time I found 14 books for $3.75. They were all a quarter . 6 that I've been looking for.

Lovely people here. I ended up passing out after a blood donation while in-store and they were very kind, helpful, and generous when I came to. Even caught me before I hit the floor and called 911 just to make sure I was okay. Very grateful to them for that and for gifting me the books I had chosen from their wonderful selection after the ordeal. Thank you to Julia, Jen, and Mason. Happy to go back and buy twice as much as I was going to. They always have a great choice of discounted books in really good shape and are always willing to help you find what you need. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An amazing store!

Yes.
Thank you. We would be glad to look at them if you bring them in. We're available for cash buying from 9am to 7pm every day.
You can always donate them for someone else to enjoy.
I doubt theyd pay you much if anything.
I can say if they do not have a copy, they can most definitely get you one expeditiously.
Hello! Grassroots Books does not give two free books per month for a year, however, we do give each person one free unstickered book per calendar year.
Hello, we accept CDs, DVDs, and Vinyl, but we don't accept VHS anymore unfortunately. You might try Savers if you want to donate VHS.
Thank you for the question. One factor is that our parking lot is full (and our team is at capacity) on the weekends, so buying would create capacity problems. Another is that our buyers are lukewarm to the idea of doing buys in the evenings (for their quality of life). But, we are talking about trying a Monday or Tuesday evening once a month or something. If we do, we'll announce in our weekly-or-less-often emails. And, we must limit labor cost - it's our biggest expense (more than books) and we must do this to be sustainable. Our team is able to sort books from pallets/truckloads from wholesale sources faster compared with the process with individual customers. As you know, most bookstores close - it's just not an easy business model. We do prioritize giving books to kids. And of course, we keep prices low, so we stay busy. We make appointments for manga, new releases, local interest, vinyl, and comics.
Hi, yes we sell vinyl records including 45s. No, we don't sell tape cassettes. Thanks!
Thank you for the question. Outside Sale: totally fresh every Monday (opening at noon), fresh items every day until 1pm Saturday or sometimes later. Items typically come out in a stream all day until 6pm, and then it's a trickle. Indoor Fiction: every day, usually ending around 2pm, except that manga and SF/F are more sporadic (usually 4 days a week, and they vary). Indoor Nonfiction: most sections MTWFSat early mornings. The books that are 20% off are shelved every day. Indoor Kids: every day.
We do sell records! We sell vinyl in the Outside Sale for $.99, and we put fresh inventory out when new vinyl comes in. The Outside Sale starts with fresh inventory Mondays at noon, then runs Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 7pm, and Sunday from 9am to 6pm.Sunday is the Bag Sale, where you can fill a brown paper grocery bag for $4.99!
Thank you for the question. We have three doors open all the time (front, side, and back). We also have fans and the AC or heater moving air around. We are more meticulous than other retailers to ask people to wear masks properly. If people aren't able to wear masks, we do Personal Shopping and Contactless Pickup. We are slowly starting to reboot paying cash-for-stuff, so our team can spread out outside rather than working together as previously. We are doing drop-in at certain times for some kinds of stuff, currently just audiobooks, comic books, and vinyl records. We keep our website updated when we are able to do a little more. So far, no team members have been infected at work. Fresh air is very helpful!
Yes, thank you! We have donation bins outside every day from 7am to 7pm (when the weather is good). We are also glad to accept vinyl records, board games, puzzles, CDs, DVD, comic books and more!
Usually yes! Today, no. We're taking baby steps to relaunching the "we pay cash" part of our business. We hope to resume buying soon, but realistically we're still a month out, or longer. We have Contactless Donation Stations outside, 7am to 7pm, except when it's raining. We accept books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, comic books, board games, console games, and puzzles. We appreciate the meaningful support we get from our community, and we are prioritizing giving as well. We are inviting 120 kids to get 50 free books each, every week, weather permitting. These kids get to pick books that they like from 1000+. We call this Instant Home Library. Over time, we believe this investment in local kids will dramatically reduce poverty.
They do take donations or will give you a cash offer in store.
We are now offering curbside pickup! We still aren't allowed to have customers inside the store, but you can Call, Facebook, or Email us what you're looking for. You can pay online via invoice, and we will schedule a time for you to pick up your items. We will set them outside our front door, labelled with your name, before you arrive. Thank you so much for thinking of us!
Yes! We have two sections in adult and a large kids selection also.
They have a whole kids section there it is so cool
Thank you for your question. We do not currently have copies of those books in our store. It looks like The Burning Shadow has not come out yet. It will be released in October. If you would like to see how much it would cost to order these books feel free to give us a call at 775-828-2665.
Nope, sorry! The supply of VHS extremely exceeds the demand. There might be a few places that still accept donations, but we have heard they aren't actively seeking more, due to low demand. We haven't learned of any ways to recycle these.
We have both brand new and used copies of the Deathly Hallows! We have a used paperback copy for $1.99, used hardcover copies for $4.99, and brand new copies for $11.99 for a paperback and $27.99 for a hardback. We also have the other books in the series!
Yes, we do. Feel free to stop in anytime from 9am to 7pm, any day of the week. (We're open until 8:05pm.)
You would have to take them to the store. They have buyers that will check them out and let you know
I have never seen any DVDs sold here without the case.
Hi Jay, Thanks for reaching out! You can bring in any books (as well as CDs and DVDs) that you'd like to sell between 9am-7pm; we're open until 8:05pm. Our buyers need to have the items in hand to evaluate and make an offer. The entire process usually takes around 15-20 minutes.
If not, I'm sure they have access to what you need. I'd go down there and ask one of their very friendly associates. If they don't, I'm sure there's lots of other books that may catch your eye.
If they don't, they can get it expeditiously.
Great idea! Yes, you can definitely find some cool, inexpensive comics 😊
Hi Lisa, we have the $5 bag sale every three weeks. Our next bag sales this year (2018) are on the Sundays of Sept 9, Sept 30, Oct 21, Nov 11, Dec 2, and Dec 23. You can also check our calendar of events on our website at www.grassrootsbooks.com. Thanks for your question!
Ask foor it to be put on a wish list and if it comes in they will call. You
I'm sure they take donations.
We pay cash! You can use the cash to buy whatever you want, whether it's a book about Hawaii or an actual vacation. When we don't buy your books, you can still leave them here. Most that we don't pay for go into a warehouse sale (99¢ and then $4.99/bag; then free to nonprofits). The rest we paper recycle. We pay at least $7/hardcover book that is released in the last 60 days.
If not, I'm sure they could get you a copy in short order.
Pretty good. If they don't have what you are looking for, they can usually special order and pickup is within 2 days.
it would probably be best to give them a call or visit them :) they have a great lot of books and dvds and sundry other goodies!
