Some one dropped of a pregnant cat and a litter of kittens at my house, and we asked Raleigh County Humane Society about surrending the cats to them so they could be adopted. They LITERALLY told us to either stop feeding them and let them run loose in the neighborhood (I have outdoor cats that EAT outside) or take them out back and GET RID OF THEM!! How can a humane society basically tell you to do things that are consider animal ABUSE!!! They are supposed to be a professional place that SAVES animals!! I told Greenbrier County Humane Society what they told us, and they said they were SPEECHLESS!!! This is absolutely insane that they are allowed to keep doing these things, even though people KNOW what they are doing. If an employee would suggest I do that to animals, can you imagine what THEY are doing to the animals they are working with EVERYDAY!!

Placed a call in regards to 2 dogs locked in a filthy pen for at least a year behind a vacant house. They bark constantly- all day, all night. Nobody ever goes to let them out or clean out the pen. Animal control did absolutely nothing, so one is left to assume they went to school with the sorry, disrespectful individual who owns the pups. These dogs are clearly neglected & are nothing but a nuisance to the neighborhood. So much for so-called laws, apparently WV doesn’t have to abide by a single one. This state is disgusting & embarrassing.

Called about a dog in my neighborhood that wouldn’t leave and was snapping at children and other pets. The only way I kept him from biting my cat was to grab her right in time and lock the porch gate. Even though he tried to attack my cat and a neighbors child I was told that nothing could be done until after the dog actually was able to injured someone. It sounded like we would need to allow this dog to bite one of the animals or children playing in the neighborhood for them to do something.

I have to drive to work everyday and see dogs that are in direct sunlight chained up and have no shelter to get shade or stay dry. I thought this is animal neglect and every time I call which I don’t like doing I’m told as long as they are fed and water there is no crime. This breaks my heart how would any human like to be done this way.
