They have garden club, a dog park, daily and weekly events, ladies and men weekly gatherings. There is a area to grow a vegetable garden, hiking around part of the lake, fishing from shore or on a boat, waterskiing, jet skis/wave runner. The community is very active and there is always something to do. My grandmother has lived there for over 20 years and loves it! My grandfather was involved with the Barber Shop Corte, community board member, computer skills/training instructor and several other community activities. I am almost 40 and I love this community! Everyone there is friendly and always welcoming, from the time you go through the gate house it's like being in your own little town.
Oconee Medical Center is approximately 10 miles from Keowee Key. My wife had a ruptured appendix in 2017 and they did emergency surgery and took care of her there. She recovered in a few weeks.
Yes check with local real estate corp.

It is true that the buy-in is less than $3,000. Annual fees are approximately 4500 to $5,000 including the quarterly dining minimum.
The average temperature for the year is 68%. The average dew point is 28°-67°. We start getting cool around the middle of November and warmer days start in April. It gets very hot from about June through the first of November.
The facilities are restricted to residents/renters, as well as their guests. You have to check into the fitness center, which requires the resident to call ahead. The pools are open to residents and their guests, which don't require any type of check in, but children need to be accompanied by an adult. You can also fish here without a fishing license, as long as you are within the community.
I don't agree with "hate children", but there are few children in the community. My wife and I lived and worked locally when my parents retired to Keowee Key. We purchased a house in Keowee Key in the 1990s not far from my parents when my three children were very young. We never had any issues with neighbors, although my children rarely played outside around the house. We moved to Clemson before my oldest started middle school to get into the Clemson school system, which is very good. We still own the house in Keowee Key. We are getting close to retirement now and will move up there permanently.
