This is a bitter sweet post, but here goes! I was employed with the Caring Place on 7/25/22 for a Case Manager position. I was excited and eager to implement the mission statement values in my everyday duties. With that said, on July 28th i experienced an unexpected health complication that left me unable to work for a two days. I returned on Monday positive and eager to work. The following Friday, August 5th i was given the day off with pay for my birthday! First, knowing they give you off on your birthday is amazing. Second, going into my second week after taking two days off for medical reasons and still being afforded the opportunity was a bonus! However, the excitement quickly wore off when i was admitted to the hospital due to COVID. I spent my birthday weekend pretty much unconscious and barely unable to move. I would spend the next three weeks...Yes, three weeks, recovering! Now, for the first week i was unable to move. My husband had to carry me to the bathroom, i could not breathe and my fever stayed steady at 101-103. I was scared this virus would take my life. Throughout this time the HR representative Jim T. was in communication with me ensuring me i would not have to worry about getting paid. Knowing this allowed me to focus 100% on getting healthy. By the third week Mr. T. was transparent communicating the realization that The Caring Place could not keep on an employee for too long that was unable to complete the duties they were hired for. Now, i want to remind you i had only worked 1-1/2 weeks since they hired me. They had every right to make the decision they did on releasing me for medical separation. Monday i will meet with the HR representative to collect my personal belongings and i know i will be treated with the same respect on my last day as i was given during my first interview. Jim you are a wonderful representative of the Caring Place. Why do i share all this...To show you how treating your employees with respect and dignity comes through on the support services provided. I have the utmost respect for what this company stands for and provides for the people of Georgetown. They are respectful, diligent, caring, honest and inclusive. I have never worked for a company that not only cared about the well-being, safety and happiness of their employees/volunteers as much as they equally care about the "neighbors." No matter who you are; if you are looking for assistance with food, shelter, clothing, housing, financial assistance etc. The Caring Place CARES! If not with direct services, the case managers, eligibility team, food pantry, thrift store employees/volunteers will go above and beyond to help you navigate a way to get back on your feet. Together they work together to encourage and empower the community to reach their goals of success. I want to thank upper management, Human Resources, volunteers, and my former fellow co-workers for giving me a short lived, but amazing experience. I look forward to the day i am refer a client/"neighbor" to this wonderful resource! Thank You The Caring Place for Caring-Eileen Segui, former Case Manager

Amazing deals on everyday things to unique things. The staff is very kind and the store changes daily. There is never the same stuff for long.

The food pantry is a joke. A single person gets 1 lb of protein for a month but only 1 time did I ever get meat of any kind there. The flour and rice are full of bugs and even putting things in the freezer for a week results in contamination of my entire pantry. The canned goods are routinely a year or more out of date. There is rarely fresh veg of any kind. Not enough food for a day much less a week. I am a woman in my 60. O and if you are a woman they give you less than a man. As far as the clothing alliance, in 6 years I’ve only been able to buy mens clothes because there is never anything in my size. There have been times when I was starting a new job that I could have really used the help. Also they don’t really serve the low income. Prices are not affordable for low income. When I moved into my apartment with very little they had pledged $50 for furniture but they didn’t stand by their pledge. The worst part is that every church in town supports them. It should be better for all the donations and money they have. REVEAL RESOURCE CENTER in Cedar Park is the best. You can get a big box of food every week. They also have job training and other programs. Caring place could learn a thing BK or two from them. They also do Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes.

Donation days have expanded! We now accept item donations Monday-Saturday, 12pm-4pm at 2000 Railroad! Bringing items in bags or boxes for our team to quickly unload for you is very helpful!
Does it still function as a couch without it? If it's not able to be sold and used as is, we can't take it as this time Thank you so much for thinking of us. If you do have items that we are able to take, we currently take them on Mondays from 11-2. Thanks!
Call 512-943-0700 and follow prompts for basic needs assistance. Our team will return your call.

Yes, we do! They simply need to be in good working condition and not gas. Thank you for thinking of us.
Yes they pick up. Just call and make arrangements.
No, I am sorry we do not accept televisions.
Health rules do not allow them to take mattresses, but they will take frames.
Yes, the gate was closed because The Caring Place follows GISD weather closures. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do our best to post the change in multiple places and send out a newsletter notification, but it's a challenge to get the word out. Our next event is January 25th. When we reopen tomorrow I'll check and see if they are planning an additional date, but at this time we are not. It's frustrating for us too, as we simply have some limitations at this time which keep us from filling the store. Thank you for thinking of us.
Are you wanting to donate those items? If so, The Caring Place can take donations on the 2nd and 4th Monday from 10-2 in the drive through. The next date will be August 10th. Thanks!
We have a discount day every Tuesday! 10% Off on Tuesdays. Also, you will find we try to keep our prices reasonable and regularly post spontaneous sales for both stores on Facebook and Instagram. We also have coupons in the Community Impact Magazine. Thank you for being part of shopping at The Caring Place! All purchases support the mission to provide basic needs of all people in our community in a welcoming, respectful and caring way.
