Great place to bring the kids. Family friendly. Loved the kids corner and the costume trunk. Lots of history organized really well. It's a small museum but well worth the trip. Employees were very friendly and sociable. They made everyone feel very welcomed. Highly recommend. There wasn't a fee but it was donations encouraged.

It's free to go in and look around, but you can leave a donation which helps keep it up and running. They have many interesting items in there, as well as descriptions and a little history about the items. There is also a small kids corner and "Grandma's trunk" where the kids can play dress up. I put on a few things too 😊. Outside of the museum there's a huge steam type thing, a moving jail (a wagon with 12 bunk beds), an old tractor, and a small house (currently used for storage). I definitely plan to go back.

I don't think so. I've actually written about Stump House Tunnel -- here's the link: www.ncregister.com/blog/kschiffer/fr.-oconnell-and-the-stumphouse-mountain-tunnel
