I'm 51 and chronically disabled. I'm in Winston-Salem because they have the best medical care for my rare neuromuscular autoimmune disease. I raised my son alone with no help financially or otherwise. He is quite an outstanding young man and has served in the Air Force for the past 4 years in cybersecurity. Because my income is social security disability and has been for 20 years I have had to have my mom supplement when needed. Especially once my illness progressed and I became unable to work part-time hours which were allowed with social security. I have not owned a home since I worked full-time over 20 years ago so since my mom has supplemented my income where needed she has advised each rental company I've ever been with to that regard. Either when I was in Winston-Salem or Wilmington North Carolina. I was recently approved for a complex where the rent was going to be $900 a month. But I declined because I knew that was going to be asking a lot more of my mom. I've currently rented from ogburn properties for the past 2 years with good report. I filled out the application with feral realty for a unit that The rent would have been the least I have ever paid being 475 a month. The highest I've ever paid was $800 a month when I was in Wilmington. So even with my good references, bank statements highlighting deposits from social security as well as numerous deposits from my mom for the past 3 months plus, as well as notarized letters from my mom advising to her help that she gives and my notarized letter where I confirmed her statement as being true, feral realty would not even review my application because they did not consider my mom's help as part of my monthly finances and asked if I paid taxes on the money she gave me. I haven't done my taxes for years because with social security I'm not required to. And the money she helps me with is a gift. So that questioned seemed out of place from the receptionist. She then stated that food stamps or any other help from social services would be considered income. So my question to her was do you think that I should be paying taxes on the food stamps and Medicaid I receive. And her answer was no. I just started at the Cancer center with novant two weeks ago so just the fact that I am attempting to move right now is overwhelming. There is no affordable housing for the disabled unless a person is approved for disability/ elderly housing. This was the only affordable housing I found that didn't require me being on a waiting list for 2 years.

These people are scammers for your money had ours stolen by being forced to pay without being able to look into the apartment. They lied saying it could be returned. Called and they hung up on us twice...very unpleasant and unprofessional. And definitely invested with roaches please save your money and go somewhere else.
