My dad has been a resident at Sandy Springs Health and Rehab for almost 2 years. His nurse, Latrina and Physical Therapist, Nipa have gone above and beyond taking care of him and advocating for his overall health and well-being. He was recently admitted to the hospital with an infection, and thanks to their efforts, getting early intervention saved his life. The nurses at the hospital commented on how good his skin looked for a bed-bound patient. Again, thanks to the staff at Sandy Springs. I’m so grateful for their kindness, attentiveness and dedication to their profession(s) and their patients.

I am Angel Guice and my mother is Patricia Guice, we want to take this time to compliment the Staff and Team at Sandy Springs Rehabilitation Center. My Father John Guice is a patient there and they have been amazing to him. The kindness and care that they have shown my father has been magnificent. I definitely want acknowledge the physical therapy team, occupational therapy team, social worker and the speech therapy team: Miss Natasha, Miss Patel, Miss Morgan, Miss Taylor, Miss Ashley, Miss Leitha as well as a few nurses on the West Wing: Miss Marika, Mr. Brandon, Mr. Shane, Miss Jackie, Miss Sylvia, Miss Anne, Miss Emma, Mr. Mark, Miss Crystal, Miss Monique, Miss Deja, Miss Fondrita, Miss Bertha, Miss Najaiyah, Miss Mariegold. I do apologize if we have spelled names incorrectly and there are a few more names that we’d like to acknowledge in our next review. These particular people have been very patient and helpful with us and my father and we truly appreciate them for all of their dedication and hard work. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Again thank you and we appreciate you!!!!

As someone who had no experience in selecting a rehab facility I found myself challenged when my 90 yr old mother had to go to a rehab center from the hospital. I quickly found, by researching, that the majority of rehab facilities in the Atlanta area have terrible ratings and reviews. We chose Sandy Spring Center and hope my feedback can help others in making a decision. The Good - there were several amazing caregivers that truly made a difference in our experience. These individuals provided my mom care with dignity and respect. But not all staff possess those qualities. Sharon the director of nursing is truly amazing. You can see by example her care for patients and her desire for SSC to be the best. The PT and OT staff were all great individuals. But I will say they are overloaded and maybe provide 30-45 minutes a day total. Since PT and OT work together my mom did not get 30-45 minutes with PT and then another 30+ minutes with OT. For someone who is specifically there for rehab 30-45 total 5 times a day does not seem adequate. Since she has left SSC., at her Assisted Living facility, she now gets 1 hour with PT and another 1 hour with OT four times a week. The Bad- Make sure you label every item of clothing and personal belongs or it will disappear. Might still disappear even if labeled. Watch everything especially medications. My moms meds were incorrect and could have caused serious issues. If you have any questions or doubts go to Sharon, Dir of Nursing, she will jump on it! High amount of Covid. My mom got Covid while there and was put in a double room with another Covid person. Was literally in bed for 10 days since there was no chair in room and they could not leave the tiny room. This put her way behind in Physical Therapy and extended her stay. I also got Covid from being there every day. The Ugly - the food is disgusting. One meal I saw was a tablespoon of tuna fish in the center of 2 pieces of white bread… they did not even spread the tuna over the entire bread. Slice of roast beef that looked like a piece of broken concrete…grey and black. My mom took one bite and immediately spit it out. I ended up bringing at least one meal a day for my mom to ensure she would eat. The caseworker Leita will tell you she is on it, but she was not. Very unorganized and spent most of the time telling you she was very busy. Messed up sending PT and OT orders for discharge and did not order oxygen properly. Thanks to the director of the facility, she jumped in all was resolved. Overall- the director of the facility and nursing director truly care about the experience residents have and welcome feedback. Make sure you get to know them. If you are lucky enough to have amazing nursing/CNA staff like Crystal and Deja, let them know how much they are appreciated. They have a job most of us would not want…changing adult diapers and working with dementia seniors.

There is access to a supply of medication for first dosing at the center that is available while new medication orders are communicated with the off-site pharmacy. Recurring prescriptions are filled by the off-site pharmacy for residents. Consultant pharmacists review each resident's medication list on admission and monthly thereafter to monitor each resident’s individual medication regimen and make recommendations to the physician.
