Brandan Bunker is one of those very rare builders that has re-evaluated the 1911 design and the function of each of its components. He crafts and polishes the best forged parts to improve the form, fit and function of each and every aspect of the platform. As a competitive shooter I have acquired a number of custom built 1911s for bullseye and action shooting, but my Bunker Arms guns are in a class by themselves. These guns are very special in terms of quality and craftsmanship. It isn’t just the accuracy that sets them apart, it’s the feel of the gun, the smoothness in which they function. The slides rack as if they’re rolling on ball bearings, no play just a smooth, easy, and incredibly firm feel. Exceptional trigger feel that breaks like a glass rod, and exceptional lock up whether your decide to go with his own radial bushing design or his coned barrel. The best part is seeing your build come to life with the pictures and video showing the barrel fitting and precision machining of your parts on Facebook or on his web page. This is the only builder I’ve ever seen fit a coned barrel to the ten thousandth of an inch. And he frequently posts videos of his machining processes. But the thing is being able to reach out to Brandan and discuss any issues or questions or special requirements you might have while he’s working on your build. My very first project with Brandan was a rebuild of my dad’s old colt wad gun - and after some real extensive testing and range time I decided on a full custom combat build. 20,000 rounds later, I decided to have him rebuild three other guns that simply had to perform to my new level of expectation. I’m been running them all in various competitive shooting sports without a hiccup over the last 5 years and have to say it’s a real pleasure working with these very special guns knowing that they will always outperform my capabilities as a competitive shooter.
