I'm giving this a 2 because I had to sit in the car with our dog that wasn't allowed in. My husband, who left me sitting in the car for an hour, would have given you a 5. Disappointed our well behaved dog wasn't allowed. Couldn't leave her in car in this hot weather. Drove an hour for this to see nothing at the ranch.

For windshield tourism this is a nice stop. The ranch is in a park setting and there is a nice 'artists point' to the west.

Questions & Answers

Are there any trails near flowing water that an 8 year old would be able to hike? Or any other parks or near by trails to water or water falls for kids to enjoy? We plan on hiking in this area then visiting the eldorado springs pool afterwards. TIA

I don't know if any water attractions in the walker ranch area for kids. If you are going to Eldorado springs there is water back in that park that I see kinds around. Its pretty back in Eldorado Canyon area. They have picnic areas and restrooms pulse the creek that runs through the canyon.

Is the 7 1/2 mile walk okay for kids as young as 8? With plenty of water of course.

I would say no unless the kids are used to hiking a lot. With the distance and 1600 in elevation I feel like they would get very tired. Took us a little over 4 hours so I am guessing it will take you a good amount longer if your 8 year old is like the ones I have hiked with.
