In preparations for cases like that, it’s usually not recommended to carry your SSC and birth certificate on your person due to how complicating it is to replace. If you have a passport you could use that as a form of ID to get a new license temporarily but will need to apply for a new birth certificate and go to the SS office for a new card.

Are you changing to CO from out of state? This is a frustrating state because they don't have set fees or an easy and reliable means to recalculate it yourself. My '04 outback ended up being just over $80, and it looked like the state tax for my vehicle was less than $2 and everything else was predetermined fees in various small dollar amounts. I have no doubt that a '16 will run you quite a bit more, but unfortunately your only truly reliable option is to go in and see what number they tell you.
