Amazing visit. Highly recommend if visiting Gettysburg

The tour and the docent were wonderful. We enjoyed the whole experience and learned much about Jennie.

A short, self guided tour through a historic house in Gettysburg. The tragic story of Jennie Wade was beautifully explained by our guide before she left us to walk around the property. If you haven't taken this short tour, I highly recommend exploring the history of this story and home.
Sherrie House
Have been here several times - but haven't toured the actual house since 1973. Staff are friendly & knowledgeable about Jennie's story - it's a worthwhile tour. Just be aware that it's not really handicapped accessible beyond the gift shop.

Yes. It was a stray bullet that went through 2 doors before hitting and killing Jenny Wade. She was the only civilian casualty during the Civil War according to local records.
It killed her instantly so she woudnt of suffered.
she was not pregnant. keep in mind that the term used during the 1800s was With Child. the term pregnant wasn't even used until early 1920s. keep in mind that Jennie wade did have a BF. His name was Jack Skelly. THEY were NOT secretly engaged but they were dating. He joined to fight for the union army in 1861 after the firing at Fort S. He will die from infection in a wound in his leg that he received during the 2nd battle of Winchester Virginia a few weeks prior to Gettysburg on July 12/13th. He is buried within the evergreen cemetery about 100 feet behind where Jennie Wade is buried today in the Skelly family plots.
With AAA it was like $10 to get in and im not sure about kids free it could be but loved going there and hearing the story.
I don't know. Definitely recommend calling
I was there less than a month ago. It was 8.00 a person. 7.00 if you have AAA. Tours only. Worth it!
