If I could give Dr. Straun a One Million Star Rating I would! Dr. Straun is an absolute God-send. He is one of the most caring, knowledgeable and brilliant doctors I have ever met, and has a fabulous personality! He definitely is not your "run of the mill" psychiatrist. He takes the time to understand the patient with a holistic approach and addresses thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. One leaves their appointment feeling reassured with a total understanding of coping skills that impact one's life positively. I have total confidence in Dr. Straun, and am so very grateful to him.

I’ve been a patient at SHAW for nearly a year now, and I truly cannot say enough good things about the team here. I’ve been working with Dr. Rodriguez for medication management and Dr. Yasuhara for weekly therapy, and I can’t imagine having better doctors. Dr. Rodriguez from the beginning has been compassionate, genuine, judgment free, and so thoughtful in her approach. I have struggled with anxiety and depression my entire life and have high sensitivity to medications. Dr Rodriguez has listened to every concern I’ve had, and taken a non-traditional approach to my medication. We trialed a few options before finding what works for me, and throughout the entire process she validated every concern and side effect I experienced, offered encouragement and came up with strategic next steps. I’ve never had as much trust in a doctor as I do in her- she is INCREDIBLE. Dr Yasuhara has been equally compassionate and thoughtful in his approach, and the work we have been able to do in just a year of therapy blows me away. He has helped me incorporate sustainable daily habits and coping mechanisms that I am so thankful for. He makes him self so available, and I’m so thankful for his constant support and willingness to jump on an extra call when I’ve really needed it that week. I appreciate that there are so many flexible appointment options that work around my 9-5 schedule- something that can be hard to find. Samantha has also been lovely, and so patient from my initial call, through my many follow up calls requesting appointments, med refills, etc. The initial intake process was a long, and not the usual experience of getting set up with a new doctor. It was a bit awkward to explain the problems I was experiencing before even being certain I would be “approved” for an appointment, but all in all it’s a minor complaint compared to the care I’ve been getting here.

I called into today to request an appointment and spoke to the secretary, Sam. I explained to her that I recently moved and I was searching for a new provider. I was caught off guard when she asked me personal details of my condition as I would think that would be provided to the Dr. at my initial appt but nonetheless provided her with answers. I told her I would be happy to provide my medical records which upon mention suddenly my files were “necessary” to provide , which okay . But what about my appt , right? she told me that I must provide my medical information & then they will determine if they will see me and call me back in a week to schedule if I’m “accepted.”Like what ?! I have a diagnosed condition that I’m currently under treatment for and looking to continue treatment now that I’ve relocated , so why can’t I make a simple appt & provide my medical records at that time for the Dr as I always do anyway when I switch Providers, don’t most people ?! I called back , thinking I must have misunderstood but alas I did not . I just found this interaction/ policy invasive And rather judgmental , why would anyone submit their medical records to a Dr who’s secretary won’t even allow you to make an appt and practice that I’m not even a patient of? I’m seriously baffled . I’ll take my business elsewhere . Who needs that type of nonsense 🙄 PS they ask you what type of healthcare coverage you have however I have United an they don’t accept that . Looking at other reviews , it seems this is an OOP facility, pay. Up.
