It's free to get in you go to the ticket counter where you buy tickets to the caverns and tell them that you want to go to the museum only they will give you a dated ticket to get in there and it's free I work here

You can pay for the gem mining separately without going to the caverns or even the museum. The gift shop has its own entrance where you can go in and buy the bag for the gem mining.

Is there cystals in the area

The only other part you pay admissions to is the Garden Maze.
