When in a German themed village you must get some German food and beer. We decided on the Troll Tavern since it’s against the river and a hot spot in Helen. The service was definitely still short staffed and a little slow. We had a small hiccup in the beginning but after that it was smooth sailing. They have a decent selection of beer local and German. As for the food it was pretty delicious!!!! The bratwurst platter was pretty good with kraut, red cabbage, rye bread and German potato salad. My wife got the Reuben sandwich it was crispy and cook just right!! I decided on the glass boot souvenir mug which was about $32 with the beer and filling. The only complaint I will say and the reason I didn’t give them a higher rating is because of the decor and quality of the restaurant. This place needs some TLC and renovations especially with it being a big tourist location. Definitely check them out for the views and a drink!

We had a wonderful time at the Troll Tavern. The river view was beautiful. Our server was Amazing. We were sitting on the deck and our server allowed us to switch tables to get a better view of the river. She made sure we had our drinks topped off and brought our food out in a timely manner. The food was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful time.

One of the most popular dining place in Helen. The river view at the outdoor seating was good. Usually outdoor seating is what everyone prefers here when the weather is fine. Indoor is quite spacious however. Variety of beers is what they have. Craft, bottled etc. The food was good. The service was good and pretty fast. The prices are very pocket friendly. The price on the menu are if you pay cash. If payed through card, there is an additional sum of upto 3.5 % which needs to be payed. This location is right next to the paid public parking, which makes it very convenient. The restroom was clean. A great dining experience, would surely recommend.

We had a pretzel and cheese fries to start. The pretzel was kind of dry. The ranch dressing that came with the cheese fries tasted homemade and was yummy. The beer cheese soup that came with the pretzel was so delicious, I wish I’d just a bowl of that! Husband and shared the sampler plate with brat, wurst, and grilled pork cutlet and it was pretty good, I really liked the cutlet grilled instead of fried. Kids got burgers, fish, and chicken tenders. Service was a bit slow but good and attentive.
