I was sent to this hospital for 8-9 days and I can honestly say that the most support I got was from my group. A lot of the staff dismissed how I felt. I felt silenced. I watched a women dissociate in front of me and beg for help. She was expressing she was going to pass out and was threatened to be restrained if she did so. Most of my days here, my voice was silenced constantly. I was not able to express my issues to my Psychiatrist Dr. Gautam who prescribed me to Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride to help reduce my nightmares. When asked how I responded to the medication, I expressed it worsened them. He told me “You’re creating things in your head.” I was constantly gas lighted by him and the staff. My body weight (110lbs) was constantly mocked and teased during vitals every single morning, my self esteem grew lower by the days. I watched myself want to give up. But I didn’t! I’m going to keep fighting. I’m wishing for freedom and peace for everyone.

First off, I’d like to specify that others may have had amazing experiences, mine was mediocre. This does not invalidate mine or anyone else’s experience, good or bad. Now I’d like to give the positive feedback of my stays. I stayed here twice and both times weren’t that bad. First time was mid Jan as a 13 year old girl, I was admitted for suicidal ideation. The beds were fine, it was over all clean. The techs weren’t that bad, therapy was all helpful. Same with second time. Over all, they were very respectful of my faith and beliefs. They do accommodate to dietary restrictions and religious practices. They also offer to do laundry for you. They let you bring in books. Some of the units (Unit 2&4 I know for a fact) have backyard areas. The day rooms have TVs and some (unit 3&4 for fact) have refrigerators. They also have complimentary snacks and drinks. It’s self serve. Onto the bad. Number one, Mr. Tim? He didn’t allow me to pray in the morning Also, there aren’t much vegetarian or vegan options. If you bring art supplies, they may steal them. They don’t allow plushies, hoodies, or blankets by the way. Also, in order to bring a plushie, you need a doctors order and those are pretty hard to get. Over all? It’s a 3.5/5. There’s room for improvement but it isn’t that bad.

I accompanied my best friend here for just an evaluation, to see where she was at and what they thought she needed. Before walking in one of the buildings, we noticed a small amount of blood spattered on the ground, when we looked further there was MUCH more blood going all the way down the sidewalk. After talking to a nurse (not the psychologist we were visiting the hospital for), we were given an ultimatum to either admit her right then and there or we would have CPS called on us. We were unsure and after discussing we decided they could call CPS if they wanted. We weren’t leaving her there. After finally getting a release form from the doctor, we left and went to investigate the blood and take pictures incase just for proof, but the sidewalk had already been washed off in the hour or so we had been there. Overall very sketchy facility.
