Will not recommend this medical practice to anyone given that they take health issues as a joke. Avoid this practice to save you from misdiagnoses. Had a really bad experience with this clinic. My first visit was virtual and the medication prescribed did not work. Was asked to provide pictures prior to the visit which were not even reviewed by anyone based on the questions that were asked. So I scheduled an in person visit with the nurse practitioner as a follow up. There was no attempt for a thorough diagnosis. Generic triggers like weather and stress were given as findings. I sought a second opinion and the doctor performed required tests and laid out treatment options. That is what we expect from any medical practitioner. The two visits were a total waste of time and money with incorrect diagnosis.

When Is the Best Time For Laser Hair Removal Treatment? What About Sun Exposure?

Las Colinas Dermatology | Jun 29, 2022
Las Colinas Dermatology | Jun 29, 2022

The best time is during the fall and winter months! Complications from laser hair reduction are rare, but their risk is increased in tanned skin, so Dr. Black recommends no sun exposure to the area to be treated for four weeks prior to treatment. Also, the laser-treated areas are more sensitive to sunlight for a few weeks, so a broad-spectrum sunscreen is recommended at all times. Any areas that will be exposed to the sun regularly such as the face or legs should be treated in the fall, winter, or spring once the tan has faded.

Can you treat my double chin without having surgery?

Las Colinas Dermatology | Jun 29, 2022

In some cases, where there is a significant amount of fat making the double chin, we can dissolve the excess fat with KYBELLA, a fat dissolving treatment. KYBELLA is done in a series of treatments. Dr. Black, Brooke Smart, FNP or Cheryl Sundlov, PA-C will customize your KYBELLA treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. During each treatment a topical anesthetic is applied, then KYBELLA® is injected into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. The most common side effects of KYBELLA® injection are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of lumpiness in the treatment area. Typically, these are worse after the first session, and resolve within 2-4 weeks after each treatment.

How often should I have a skin exam?

Las Colinas Dermatology | Jun 29, 2022
Las Colinas Dermatology | Jun 29, 2022

Routine skin exams are a crucial tool in detection of skin cancer and are especially important for us living in Texas, where the mild weather makes it easy for us to be outdoors more of the year. Skin cancer can affect skin anywhere on the body, but most frequently appears on skin that is exposed to the sun. Recommended frequency of skin exams varies, depending on your genetics, skin color, and lifetime exposure to the sun. So, the best approach is to schedule an initial skin exam then Dr. Black, Brooke Smart, FNP and Cheryl Sundlov, PA-C will determine the best schedule for you, which can range from every month to more than a year.

BOTOX® is a purified toxin injected into muscles of the face that cause dynamic wrinkles – wrinkles caused by movement. It temporarily relaxes the overactive muscles that cause the wrinkles, giving a smoother, softer, more relaxed appearance. It is FDA-approved for the treatment of frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet around the eyes, and Dr. Alison Black, Brooke Smart, FNP and Cheryl Sundlov, PA-C also often use it to soften horizontal forehead lines or the tiny lines around the mouth.

It typically takes 4-6 weeks to start to see an improvement in your acne once you start a new acne regimen. You will get quicker and longer lasting results if you keep up with the regular maintenance of your skincare regimen.
