Love this place. Todd and Holly are great people. We've stayed here around 5 times. Very clean and wonderful views of the lake. It's our grandkids favorite vacation spot we stated taking when they were teenagers, now they are in college and never turn down a chance to go to The Outpost Motel.

We had a pleasant 2-night stay at this motel. First time for both of us around here. Quiet area, very good view of Lake Superior, one can easily go across the road and sit on the shore of the lake at dusk for some fresh air. The bathroom was a little smaller than we were expecting, but that did not affect at all our expectations as a whole. We stayed on room 11. Our room was very clean, our bed was comfortable, very quiet around for a good night sleep. Staff were there when we needed them. We look forward to stay here should we visit the area again. My one personal suggestion: I think every room should have a little fridge, ours did not have one. Other than that, it's all good.

My parents owned a resort for 40 years. As a mature adult, we do alot of traveling. So I am the motel industries most picky critic! I can without reservation say this motel is one of the cleanest, most well furnished motels I’ve ever had the pleasure to stay at! Million $ view of Lake Superior right in front of us & forest behind. And did I mention the hosts!? Very accommodating & friendly! They love this place & their chosen life & this shows! I will not stay anywhere else when in this area! Can not wait to return!!

Such a wonderful place to stay. First time staying at the Outpost Motel. Had a chance to meet Todd, the owner. He was very kind and helpful. Rooms are small, but very clean with thoughtful touches throughout the room. Comfortable bed and pillows. There is a thick binder filled with information about the North Shore, hiking trails, things to do in Grand Marais, and more. The owners clearly love the area and have a wealth of information that they are willing to share. Excellent location. Near lots of outdoor recreation and close to downtown Grand Marais. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a great motel at a great price.
