ABC is the best place to receive ABA therapy. My daughter has disabilities including Autism, but the BCBAs always think out the box to come up with skills to help with daughter with communication and independence. This was the best decision for our family, as our daughter has made huge progress in communication even being non verbal. The therapists are dedicated and really want to help your kid succeed.

As a former employee, Its insane that you guys have fired 3/5 minorities that work in your clinic, within a month.. based off falsified information or no further investigations! The staff and children are suffering from the lack of empathy and proper management presented at this clinic.. The staff is uncomfortable to come to work and fear if they will be next! It is extremely unfortunate and hoping management changes soon, for everyone’s sake.

Initially when I inquired the Sr. Clinic admissions was informative and made me feel at ease with her response to my questions and concerns. So I brought my son in for evaluation, of course I still had additional questions since I’ve never been to this establishment or know all the details of the evaluation. So the clinician states she would be taking him to the back for evaluation and they look for “abuse and neglect”. I’m like okkkk didn’t think anything of it at first. However, it was a bit strange to take a 5yr old alone for an hour when being evaluated. After arriving home my son said “the lady asked if my mommy and daddy are nice to me” like what? Here I am trying to seek resources to help my son with concerns I have about being on the autism spectrum and I’m being stereotyped because I’m explaining my son has anxiety conversing with strangers. So I call around seeking a therapist and I speak with a therapist at Baylor Scott & White she too was also baffled, even about the clinician mentioning “abuse & neglect”. This is exactly why a lot of minority parents are always hesitant to seek help. Also after speaking to the therapist, I call back for additional questions and I have yet to hear back from anyone smh.

This place is a scam 😒 I took my son for his evaluation and have been getting the run around about his results.

ABA therapy will address the developmental deficiencies identified during an initial assessment of your child’s functioning across dozens of areas. With children on the autism spectrum, this often includes areas of verbal communication, like the ability to converse with parents and peers, request items, and communicate emotions and needs. Nonverbal communication, like making gestures and understanding social cues, can also be developed. Other important target areas of ABA include social skills, play skills, potty training, self-care skills (brushing teeth, washing hands, etc.), and day-to-day living skills (getting dressed, table manners, etc.).

First and foremost, a child and a therapist will “pair,” meaning they will simply take time to play, get comfortable with each other, and establish a good relationship. Based on a child’s individualized treatment plan, specific therapy goals will be worked on each day. Therapists will collect data on the success rate with each goal, and once a goal is mastered, children will move on to the next. Common therapy goals might include pointing to objects to indicate want or need, playing appropriately with toys, matching pictures and objects, learning sounds and words, potty training, and so much more.

What does ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) stand for?

Applied Behavior Analysis is likely a phrase that you haven’t used much in your life. Let’s break it down: -Applied (this is an applied, or practical, method that we use). -Behavior (we all have an intuitive sense of this word – behavior is what people do) -Analysis (the study or investigation into something) Applied Behavior Analysis seeks to understand why a child does something (analyzing behavior) and then applies this within the child’s individualized lessons. An example: a child screams loudly. We’ll work to understand why the child screams – this is called the “function” of the behavior. If we can understand why the screaming occurs (the child is triggered by a small change in routine), we can then do something about it (slowly introduce the child to different kinds of transitions, work on regulating emotions).
