Thank you so much, Lex Air for always providing top notch service! I really appreciated Pierre who handled our system maintenance to get us ready for Fall and Winter. He arrived on time and was professional and kind when he came into our home. He explained to me what maintenance service he was providing and was very efficient. I asked if he was able to listen to a humming coming from one of the vents and he quickly identified what the issue was and was able to fix it for us. I felt extremely comfortable with Pierre in my home and appreciated his experience that allowed him to work efficiently. 5+ stars for Pierre, THANK YOU!

I signed up for the Cool Club Maintenance program last week. We scheduled an appointment on Friday from 12-3. I received a call from Donna on Friday morning informing that Jon could come earlier if I was available. Shortly after, I received a text message telling Jon was on his way. He was courteous, loved on my dogs, and wore booties. He explained everything that he was going to do, showed pictures and made sure I didn't have any questions. He even showed me how to connect my thermostats to the internet and how to control it from my Iphone! It was a great experience from start to finish. I'd recommend Jon and Lex Air to anyone. If you're looking for a great heating and air conditioning company in DFW, look no further than Lex Air Conditioning and Heating. Thanks Lex Air. Update: I had another great experience with Lex Air on my winter maintenance check up yesterday on 10/20/22. Pierre was my HVAC technician. I received a text from him when he was on his way (about 20 minutes before arrival). He did a tune-up on our furnace to make sure it was in safe, working order. He also went above and beyond by fixing one of the grills in our master bedroom that was causing a vibrating noise when the system was running. I can't recommend Lex Air enough. They're the most reliable and dependable HVAC company in DFW.

Dusty and crew did a fantastic job installing our new unit. Dusty took the time to explain his recommendations and helped me understand the details I needed to feel comfortable about my purchase. On the day of install, the crew showed up on time and got the work done quickly and carefully. They kept things as clean as possible and made sure to pick up after they were done. Highly highly recommend!

Questions & Answers

What is the SEER Rating?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

The SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) is how the efficiency of your heating and cooling equipment is measured. The SEER is the amount of cooling your system will deliver per dollar spent on electricity, as compared to other systems. For example, a 3-ton unit may have a SEER efficiency rating of 13, 14, or 15. The higher the SEER the more efficient the system will be. The SEER rating of any given unit can range anywhere from 13 to 21.

What are the advantages of a programmable thermostat?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Since they are electronic, programmable thermostats are more accurate and efficient than thermostats that contain mercury. With programmable thermostats you can control the temperature in your home at different times of day without ever touching your thermostat. Because everything is automatic, you will never forget to change the setting on your own.

Why should I have regular (or preventative) maintenance? And how often should I have it performed?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Your heating and cooling systems work incredibly hard to perform their functions for your home everyday. The constant stopping, starting and continual operation can wear down any machine if the proper care and maintenance is delayed. However, by performing regular maintenance, you can maximize the lifecycle of your heating or cooling unit and guard against many common equipment failures. Preventive maintenance inspections performed on a regular basis can uncover leaks, rust, rot, soot, frayed wires and corroded electrical contacts. You should have maintenance completed on your system regularly to ensure maximum efficiency and prevent possible problems that may occur in the near future.

How much do you charge to come out and diagnose the issue with my heating and air conditioning system?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Our diagnostic fee for service calls is $79. If repairs are needed, the cost to repair is in addition to the $79 diagnostic fee.

What is the life expectancy of my unit?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Dependable Trane products are among the longest lasting heating and cooling products available. For your specific equipment, there are many variables that affect life expectancy, including, of course, the regularity of routine maintenance. With that being said, HVAC systems typically last between 10-15 years.

What does my warranty cover?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Under the standard factory warranty, Trane covers parts that fail during the warranty period due to defect in the part. The warranty does not cover labor. A warranty certificate was included with your homeowner information packet, and is specific to the model numbers, serial numbers and installation dates of your products. All Trane equipment that we install is registered with Trane Corporation to ensure your 10 year parts warranty. If you cannot find your warranty certificate, Lex Air Conditioning and Heating will also be able to provide you with that information. With a Lex Air Conditioning and Heating Total Comfort Plan, you’ll have a ten year parts and labor warranty on your Trane equipment.

Where can I get parts for my Trane equipment?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

As a Trane dealer, we are the best resource for identifying and supplying the correct, current parts for your system, as well as pricing and availability.

Why can't I find the correct size furnace filter at my local home improvement store for my Trane Brand Equipment?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Filters for your Trane unit are made from higher-quality materials than those of the disposable filters found in retail stores. For that reason, replacement Trane filters can only be purchased through a Trane dealer. However, keep in mind that some Trane filters are reusable, and can be washed by hand in cold water.

What type of filter should I use? And how often should I replace it?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Standard filters work to keep your system and its ductwork clean, but they don’t really improve indoor air quality. To do that you need a media air cleaner. The media filter rests between the main return duct and the blower cabinet and will improve dust and particle removal up to seven times that of a standard filter. However, upgrading to a pleated media filter will remove everything from dust to airborne viruses from the filtered air. Always choose a filter that matches your blower’s capacity. For optimal efficiency and filtration, we recommend that you replace your disposable filters at least once a month. If you have washable filters, they should be cleaned once a month.

What equipment requires regular (or preventative) maintenance?

Clay Adams | Mar 30, 2022
Lex Air Conditioning and Heating | Mar 30, 2022

Heat pumps and air conditioners require a professional tune-up twice a year; in the spring and fall. Inspections on boiler and furnace systems should include ductwork, pipes, dampers, valves, the chimney, registers, radiators, pumps, blowers, fuel lines, oil tank and every part of the actual furnace and boiler. Meanwhile, heat pump and air conditioning unit inspections should also include inspections of the fan, compressor, indoor coils, outdoor coils, and refrigerant lines.
