I have been here many times. Lovely campground. Bathrooms and showers are awesome and clean. Campground hosts are always friendly. Sites are great.

Best RV campground for Big Lake. Paved road up to campground, then very wide, smooth, & packed dirt/gravel. A beautiful, newer development, w/modern utilities, deep, spacious sites (my 55ft combo was easy), and nicely separated & secluded by trees. Gracious & locally knowledgeable hosts (Mark & Lisa), & super clean & maintained. I arrived mid-week, 9/29/21, during the F/F period, and had plenty of full hook-up sites to choose from. Welcomed w/a snow dusting the 1st night (melted off by afternoon), but the stars, the elk bellowing at night, and proximity to the lake, were remarkable. Pull-thru dump station for non-FHU sites. I believe they close 10/31 for the winter, but Apache Trout is my Big Lake destination from now on.

Fantastic and convenient campground. Located a stones throw from Big Lake, the Apache Trout Campground is ideal for both tent campers and RV/Trailer campers. They have very clearly marked and prepared campsites with convenient services. The restrooms are GREAT, one of the few campsites that has showers (bring your flip flops). The camp hosts are friendly, helpful, but not in your face all the time. As a family we've used the larger group sites for a few family reunions as well as the smaller individual sites - with both tents and trailers. Only downside we have found is the close proximity to your neighbors and the significant number of people that are always there. This is one of our very favorite family campgrounds because there are so many things to do in the area - fishing and boating on the lake, hike along the Black River, just enjoying the cooler weather! We go back again and again.

Loved the campground, beautiful setting, nice facilities. Unfortunately the campground hosts were terrible. Apparently the reservation site doesn't tell of all the extra charges. Single site you can have one car and unlimited people and tents. Double sites can have only 2 cars and two tents and up to 16 people. Any extra tents or cars add $26/ night, the cost of a whole site. The supervisors were very friendly as we tried to sort it out, but the camp hosts had it out for us, constantly photographing our sites, even in the midst of us working with the supervisors. They even threatened one our friends to prosecute to the full extent of the law, completely missing that they were only making things worse. Supervisors acknowledged there's a problem with wrong/incomplete info on reservation site (ie. False advertising), but wouldn't budge a smidge even though the reservation site said extra tent was $8 extra, not $26. They wanted cash for the extra charges--a bit scammy. We've camped with large groups all around the state, never had these kinds of problems before. Again, campground great, Hosts were TERRIBLE!

Online at Arizona state parks and you can see rv spots and make reservations.
Yes, pets are allowed. Pets are to be controlled and on leash outside. I have seen people with as many three dogs. If you take your dog, be kind and clean up after them...
Paved no problem
Yes, it's a forest closure.
You must reserve 6 months in advance. Showers should be open in July and water and dump stations are available.
Probably not. Double sites get you 2 rvs. It would be super tight and he would have to pay the same rate as getting his own site. Best for him to r ew nt his own site
There are spots you can get out for calls and texts
Recreation.gov has all the site lengtha for the reservation sites
Is the Apache Rv campground open with full hookups? how many sites are there? can we make reservations?
We are open to rvs only now. Hoping to be fully open by june 19th
Go to recreation.gov. they have the most up to date availability. The campground does not receive arrival reports until 2 weeks prior to a particular date. Plus they do not open until may 1.
Hello! It will be cold and possibly snowy. I was there in July and it was 70's during the day and 40's/50's at night. I would get in touch with the general store or the ranger station for more specific temps :)
Yes and they have shower there
Apache teout is 26. Grayling, brrokchar, and cutthroat are less
Walk-in refers to sites available as "first-come-first-serve" rather than reservation only. Big lake is not a good lake for swimming: however, the Black River is a short drive away and we love taking the kids and dog out there to. Play in the water!
Yes there are , I was there last year people work there are pretty nice will answer you all your questions, you will see them they drive arrown the camp all day, is so much to discover there, at this time is a little green frog, well have fun
Double site's have both in the usual spot, will be near the back of your rig. The only downside of a double site is the hook up for one will be right by the other spots fire ring, you my get the sewer gases every time you go out the door.
Yes, I was there last year, I be there again July 27, 28, 29 with Mexican gray wolf, to learn about wolves,
