Not much of a campground really but great river access.

Spent 4 (tent) nights here over 4th of July 2020 weekend. Advantages: 1-Elevation of 8,800 is lower than most campsites west of Creede so not as cold for tent campers, 2-Amenities: nice (not warped) picnic tables, clean & stocked outhouse, patrolled several times by ranger, fire rings, 3-Close to Creede so good access to town, 4-QUIET! Campground is only 7 sites. No barking or loose dogs, no partying, etc. 5-Rio Grande River front sites, 6-FREE! Disadvantages: 1- Water pump not operational, 2-Fire restrictions prohibited use of fire rings due to heightened wildfire risk (propane stoves OK), 3-Some sites are without shade (little privacy, too much sun), other sites are so shaded the mornings stay forever cold, 4- An hour from Lake City if that is your recreational focus. The road into the campground is a bit rocky but a passenger car or RV can manage it slowly. When driving in, there are many houses across the Rio Grande but they disappear once in the campground. BEST SITE is #7; it is away from other sites, has shade and places for several tents, has direct river view and access. We were lucky to get site #7 and loved this campground!

Free at the time with a donation requested. No showers but has a toilet. 7 spots all close to river. 1, 4, and 7 have the best river access. Good fishing spot it seems. Right outside of Creede.

This campsite was wonderful! The views of the Rio Grande and the mountains all around were astounding. The campsites each had a picnic table and a fire pit. The vault toilets were usable and well stocked. A very quiet and relaxing night of sleep. There is a recommended $5 donation to stay the night. Overall a quiet, beautiful place to stay the night.
