My son who is non-verbal and autistic with sensory processing disorder as well was denied care from The Pisgah Institute because he has Medicaid as a secondary insurance because of his disability. VERY, VERY poor decisions as his primary insurance is Federal insurance. A child who needs help is denied care all due to a possible loss of money. I do NOT recommend anyone using this facility for services as they seem to be all about the money and not the care of the individuals!

Very poor experience all around. The staff especially have shown remarkable incompetence in handling my prescriptions and paperwork. Getting them to call in prescription refills has always been frustratingly difficult and usually takes several tries before someone even picks up the phone. Most of the staff also seem very unconcerned with my needs and were quick to end a telephone conversation. They also are very keen to direct people to the poorly designed online patient portal instead of talking to a human being (which someone suffering from a mental illness might prefer). As for the psychiatrist Dr.Buie and P.A. Parks Harper I've been seen by, my experiences with them for the most part have been excellent (although Dr.Buie did twice incorrectly file some important paper work regarding an application for free medication which caused me to have to unnecessarily pay hundreds of dollars). If you are looking for psychiatric help, go somewhere else.

Okay so this is my second time having a medication related emergency and the second time I was greeted by “doctors” who seemed more annoyed by the issue than ever ready to help. The medication I’m currently on has a very short half life and is very painful to withdrawal from. I really wish I could get the help I needed when I needed it and felt that my emergency is just as much theirs. Hopefully after this crisis is solved I can be done with this place for good. EDIT After loosing my medication I was finally reached out too and given an unasked for and borderline abusive session from Dainel Mitcher. Don’t go to her if you go here. She’s condescending, cold, and pretty much had me diagnose myself. Her knowledge and attitude is extremely disappointing.
