My stay at the Rawson Neal Psychiatric Hospital was truly an experience. I was released to the facility from the Clark County Detention Center. The same day of my transfer from county to the hospital I was seen by a doctor and diagnosed with schizophrenia and a addiction to meth. I was relieved to know that everything I had experienced leading up to that moment of clarity and approval was explainable and treatment is available for it. I then stayed awhile voluntetarily for further treatment and evaluation of my overall well-being. I tell you this right now the food was far better then county. The staff and crew Thierry are incredible and very understanding of all patients admitted after the facility. I'm glad to know that if I was ever to be hospitalized due to my mental health that I'd be in incredible hands.

This is clearly a terrible facility. I came to pick someone up here and they don't even allow entrance, much less any assurance that the patient would be safe and well. I had to wait in the heat outside. It's worse than a prison. Better mental health facilities are sorely needed in the Vegas region.

This is not a psychiatric hospital. It’s a prison for the mentally ill.

7-8 pm every day.
The hospital is federally/state funded. I'm not sure on the donations though
It is the patient’s right that whoever sings themselves in voluntarily can do a written statement and they will be released immediately. But they hide that right. A lot of the patients don’t even receive their “patient rights” insert. They hold people there against the will and against the law, quite often. So in reality, sadly, however long they want to. There is a “court” in system In place where the patient will need to pass it in order to be either released or held longer. If a patient refuses medication then they threaten to keep them longer. Also the court is not a real court, just a bunch of “doctors” in one group to intimidate further. They play human dollhouse in there and if your loved one is in there then I recommend reading the rights because talking to them they will omit a lot. They are very unethical.
Does anyone know when a patient can use the phone?
If you go in civil, you'll go to RSU. You'll meet with a doctor to determine your mind state and if you need to be there or not. If you do, you'll have treatment teams to figure out the best course of action to get you base line
7 to 8 p.m. at night Monday through Sunday
7pm to 8pm everyday.
Visiting hour is daily from 7pm-8pm. Show up a little early because someone walks u through to the area where the patients are. U gotta sign in, dress code is enforced & u cant take hardly anything in to give them.
There were a few people in there who were addicted to drugs. I went in on my own to get off of sleeping pills that I was addicted to
