They didn't warn me that a company can act vindictively if you file a BBB complaint which is what happened. There are no safeguard against retribution.

BBB is an organization that is paid for by the businesses. You may be surprised to find that despite that they are not at all in support of the businesses that support them. We had a situation where a customer attempted and successfully utilized the BBB to pressure us into giving him discounts and free work that were not deserved with the threat of bad reviews if we did not succumb to their demands. We were unwilling to succumb and the BBB put our organization into a revoked status. Please note prior to this we had been A+ for multiple decades and paid $10s of thousands of dollars to the BBB in yearly fees. Super disappointing to see that an organization is willing to support dishonest customers.

I'm grateful for Timberland Exteriors of Colorado who replaced the shingles on our house. I've done many home improvement projects over the years and by far they were the most professional and provided the best service. They made the process very easy, worked with our insurance, removed the old shingles to inspect the roof for any damage to prevent leaks in the future and completed the project in the promised time-frame (one day) and left my property clean despite it being a messy project. Then came out and replace one section that had a few discoloration issues. I highly recommend using Timberland. Even my insurance adjustor commented to me that this was his favorite roofing company to work with because of their quality of work.

I did not feel things were resolved with my complaint against Elitch Gardens. They have not provided a service or a refund of any kind in lieu of providing pre-paid season passes and to me that is theft. I understand all things COVID, but there has been no offer to move my pass into the next season either. The BBB says they have resolved the complaint because they issued a statement saying what they will do IF they open. 7/13/2020 and there is no date to open, the season is more than half over. I paid in March. But, they are prompt at least. Just wish there was a way to rebuttal their final decision. To me, this is theft by EG! Editing to add after contacting Elitch over and over we finally received a full refund. It’s a shame the BBB didn’t step in as I hear many were taken advantage of.

I'm thinking no, you shouldn't pay the balance if you're honestly not getting what you paid for. The better business bureau isn't going to give you your money back, they may suggest to the business in question to remedy the situation, granted the remediation is reasonable, but they cannot force said business to to give you your money back.
I had an issue with a particular business and once i completed the online form I had a response within 48 hrs. Mind you i think the initial contact was an automated response. The 2nd contact was quick again within 48 hours.
I doubt it, but you'd have to ask Uber and Lyft about their billing policies.
Go to BBB.com and read, the short synopsis, they are a bridge between the customer and the company to encourage communication to try and find an amicable resolution but make no decisions. They will close the complaint with no further communication through them, be prepared to not like the reason why for either party.

Tell them you don't believe you owe this debt ask them for their business license number and address and any and all information they have on this questionable debt and see what they send you and then use that information to file complaint with the Better Business Bureau and do not give any of your proof just file a complaint about them not leaving you alone

I recently moved. Advice: Do not get quote over phine, no matter how detailed. They must come out to you house and give a detailed BINDING estimate. Do not go with cheapest or most expensive. For us, Mayflower quoted 17,000, Allied quoted 11,000 and fly by night quoted 7,000 for a 900 mile move. Went with Allied and they did a fair job. Puck up service was great. Drop off, they cheated us a few people and it took forever. Got insurance for real cost of loss with $250.00 deductible. Of course thing broke, but the claims process was very straight forward. They did not give me s hassle and paid a settlement quickly. Good luck
