Very nice and calm place with beautiful surroundings. Family and kids walk,ride bicycle, boating etc. Beautiful view of evening

Plenty of parking. Lake is big enough for kayaking and/or fishing. I love that the walking paths are paved for biking or roller-blading.

Beautiful lake , great gor kayaking. The trails around it are so beautiful. It links to the dupage river trail as well as Naperville green way. Beauty is serene. They have onsite restrooms and parking lot is observed by police department so its always safe.

I have a Hobie kayak w/pedal&paddle power & a sail but I saw a “No sailboat rule” sign in photos. I don’t want to be that person who tries to skirt the rules on a technicality (but, really, it’s a kayak!) but I’m wondering if a kayak w/sail is okay?

I have the same equipment and I sailed there with no problems. I've also sailed my Hobie wave sailboat there this year also with no problems. But I can't speak for the actual rules.

On Groupon it says you can do a 60 minute kayak rental on whalon lake...has anyone done this & was it enjoyable (especially for a family of 4)? Also, do you need to make a reservation for this or is first come, first served?

If you Google "kayak rentals at Whalon" you will see that this is a new amenity starting in May and running thru October. Sounds like a great idea.

Do you need to get a license for kayak use? Is there any classes that I or my kids can take to properly use a kayak? And is such a license is needed where do I go get one?? Thanks

Kayaks and canoes do not need to be registered with the state. And the paddle pass "license" is no longer available. You are still subject to local laws etc and should of course have all your safety equipment, but in terms of human powered water craft, there are no licenses or registration

Yes they are generally pretty clean in terms of an outhouse

Nice place to relax with the family. Also has a dog park for dog lovers and nice trails too!
