A Chicago treasure. This garden makes me so happy. I read my book in front of this fall beauty.

Questions & Answers

is there a free parking nearby?

Yes, for 30min you can use the dedicated Zoo parking for free. I believe you can also park on Cannon Dr and Stockton Dr for free, but please read the parking signs there carefully.

We wanted to check it out yesterday only to find that it is closed for winter..

I appreciate that it is as open and natural-looking as it is. Would hate for them to put rails in near the pond - would take away from the ambiance. Personally, I love that the pathways are rugged and bumpy...nothing that a good pair of walking shoes can't handle.

No, it's not a fishing pond. On the other hand, the lagoon about a hundred yards outside and east of the Lily Pond is a popular fishing spot.

There's paid parking E of Lincoln Park Zoo, or neighborhood street parking bordering the zoo - which could be tricky if the weather's nice and everyone's going to the zoo...
