I appreciate that it is as open and natural-looking as it is. Would hate for them to put rails in near the pond - would take away from the ambiance. Personally, I love that the pathways are rugged and bumpy...nothing that a good pair of walking shoes can't handle.
The pathways are uneven, ruggid & bumpy with stairs. Not the most ideal conditions for the cold winter months ahead especially with a freezing or frozen pond. People can easily fall on the path or in the pond.
Sorry that happened. Not an easy place to access. Unlike the other areas of the Conservancy, The Lily Pool is only open seasonally, from dawn to dusk, from mid-April to mid-November according to the Park District. Makes sense.
