Been here quite a few times. Good place to go to after lunch. Small warning note. Some of the talking mannequins can be a little frightening for younger children. My 6 year old granddaughter was scared. But she still enjoyed our visit there.

Great place to visit

So many relics on display and the movie experience was so real, you felt like you were in the middle of it all

I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of information, the detail, the artifacts (whther actual or recreated) and the presentation. Good perspective of focusing on the upper midwest states and the impact the Civil War had on their people and economies. Nice bookshop with lots of used and hard-to-find books (mostly on the Civil War but not exclusively). Well worth going to!

9 dollars for non residents of the town if I remember correctly
The gift shop sells snacks and some beverages. The desk staff will also provide you with a list of nearby restaurants upon request.

You should give yourself a couple hours. If you're going though this museum any faster I feel like you'll miss important info. And if you have anyone in your party seriously interested in history and learning, it could take you much longer.
