Working on tracks. If you need Amtrak headed to points south, call Amtrak for schedule.

Currently under construction, I heard the city of Homewood has big plans for renovation on the platform and building. probably great for Amtrak and Metra commuter train service.

No good you must find a parking place in between buildings there are no parking everywhere I use to live here unless it changed
Yes, but there is an elevator
I think it is $2.50
It did when I was taking the train 4 yrs ago. I'd imagine it's still that way
Check Amtrak for fare information. Lately, the train doesn't stop in Homewood because of track work. You have to get off the train in Kankakee and from there a bus will pick you up and take you to Homewood. About a 46 minute trip there and back. To return to Carbondale a bus will pick you up in Homewood and take you to Kankakee and Amtrak will stop in Kankakee to take you to Carbondale but check with Amtrak and see if that is still the current situation.
Isaac has the answer...but u can board in Homewood it's a transit bus you will board and it goes to Kankakee where Amtrak will pick u up
The station is open 24 hours
Yes they can
2.25 per 12 hours
Yes, you can buy a ticket on the train. But the price for a one-way ticket on the train is higher than buying a ticket from one of the ticket machines in the train stations.
Here is a link to their schedule select Homewood station and your destination. The date and the closest time you are looking to depart: https://metrarail.com/maps-schedules/train-lines/ME
The price is $6.75 to and from the city. On the Metra Electric District. As you go further away from the city of Chicago, IL. The fares get higher.
Yes but only using an credit or debit card. If you need to use cash you will have to purchase your ticket on the train.
Where?
Yes, you have to pay to park in the lot but you can park in the street for free and walk to the platform.
Yes on the inside of the terminal. But you do have to walk downstairs to get to it.
Yes there is ample parking
This station is a commuter train location and there is a side of the station for cross country train. You will need to go Amtrak website for that information.
Metra and you get off at Millennium Station
The website Metrarail.com has all of that available.
It depends if you board a Metra train or Amtrak train(yes). Train passes are not interchangable; two different systems. Check with Amtrak and metrarail.com
The schedule I found on Amtrak.com appears to show the arrival from new Orleans at 7:50 AM https://m.amtrak.com/h5/r/www.amtrak.com/timetables.html
No the homewood line is the metra electric from university park to millennium station at ranolph and Michigan ave
Not that I am aware of. You would have to ride the train all the way down to Van Buren or millennium station. Find a place to take the blue line from there. However, if it were me I would ride the train down to millennium station and take the blue line at Clark and Lake, there is a pedway you can follow to get to the blue line. Good luck!
Amtrak shares that station and Google lists its address as 18015 Park Ave. Parking there is something like $2/day last I checked.
When you get to particular metra strain stops, you can purchase tickets at the vending machines or go to the ticket agent and buy at ticket
Once an hr...10 after
There are no staff members. They do have elevators to get you to the lower level with another elevator taking you up to the train platform.
