Visited for a couple hours during the summer - there are a few historic elements to read and look at, and the views are great. This was built in the 20’s and is of historical importance. I plan to be back and stay a night when I am able. If you enjoy architectural feats and historical buildings, you’ll enjoy visiting this site. One other fun fact is this site was used for external shots in The Shining.

Really impressive place to warm up after a day in the snow. The size of the beams are incredibly large, love the huge fireplace in the center. I appreciated the plaques and information about the building throughout. A couple hours is not enough time to hang out in this awesome place! The Ram's Head Bar was neat, we got hot chocolate and brownies for the kids and Bloody Mary's for us.

Beautiful, historic lodge with skiing nearby and an amazing view of the mountain. This place really needs no introduction. You're obviously paying for the location and the history if you stay here, but you don't need to stay here to visit. You can experience the beauty of Mount Hood without staying here, and you can also eat here without staying here. That said, it's a cool place to stay if you're up for it. The best part is the huge amounts of snow here in the winter.

Took my wife to Mt. Hood for our anniversary. It was a hot Pandemic July and we wanted to get away. It was a little pricey, but not more than you'd expect for the location. It's a proper log-cabin lookin place with all wood everything. Our room was cozy and cute. Went to the restaurant. The food was excellent and cooked properly. I'm often not impressed with destination food, but I was pleasantly surprised here. We visited all the historical stuff in the building, hiked around the remaining snow (in July), and got rained on. It was the perfect Portland day.

Do they employ a winter caretaker? I'm just curious, and no not because of the shinning Ghost, in reality itd be hard for any person or even family to be isolated all winter.

Timberline is staffed year round. It's a resort-lodging, restaurant, bar, gift shop, skiing/hiking/climbing. It's not in the middle of nowhere and Oregon winters are not that bad, they expect snow on the mountain and plow/gravel the roads.
