Good Doctors Occasionally Suppressed by Ignorant Policies For my first few experiences with ISPM, I truly felt like my doctor cared about me, and helping me fight my battle. Dr. Nelson is apparently truly concerned, and seems to want to help. I actually learned that I had a pain disease, and I wasn't going crazy. He tried helping with injections, and pain patches at first, but due to insurance issues, I had to switch to a generic sublingual. My first problem started after that prescription. They have some seriously bizarre policies, when you consider that they are professing to manage pain. They made me go to a different clinic, once they started me on a working prescription. Once I started at the new clinic, I couldn't get my prescription renewed until after a psych consultation (2 weeks until my appointment), and then you had to wait for urinalysis results before seeing the doc (2 weeks for the UA, and 2 more to get to the doctor). By the time I was probably eligible to see the doctor, the VA forced me to switch to a different doctor altogether. After nine months of torture at the Tanner Pain Clinic in Layton, I decided to pay out of pocket for my care again, and go back to Dr. Nelson at ISPM. Perhaps the doctors and practitioners do care, but the policies sometimes reflect an opposing agenda. Over the span of six months, I had to reschedule thrice, due to flare-ups and other cognitive complications. That caused some issues where they wouldn’t let me get a new appointment, but Dr. Nelson was willing to work with me. He gives me hope. Dr. Nelson, and PA Kaufman are great. The rest of that place? Well they're working on improving things. I'll not be looking for new providers unless they kick me out of their program.

I recently moved from Seattle and started seeing Desiree Hammer (Des) for ongoing back pain after two spinal fusion surgeries. I can’t say enough about the positive experience I have had with Des and Interventional Spine. Des listened to my history of back pain, which has been going on for a few years, ordered an MRI and recommended a plan for treatment. Most of all, she made me feel comfortable by showing caring and understanding.

I had a great experience with the staff and doctors here. Too bad my body just doesn't react well to the shots. 3 months max. Might have to try again to see if there are new changes in technology.

They never answer the phone. They call you and ask you to call them back and when you call them back during business hours they never answer even when you leave a voice message. I was trying to get in for an initial consult and eventually the gal (Bailey?) called me back about a week and a half later. I stated I left multiple voice messages and they say they never got them. Dr. Nielsen was about 40 minutes late to our initial appointment so I had to scoot out of there because I had another appointment. I got some details about the procedure but I needed to verify if it's covered by my insurance. So I tried calling again today, once the beginning of business and once at the end of business, to make sure that this scheduled procedure is actually covered. And I'm back to nobody answering the phone and no responses to voicemails.
