Dirty place. Staff doesn't keep it clean. Hallways always smell gross. Management is horrible at responding to you. Laundry machines break down half of the time. Walls are thin. Not recommended here!

Well I went condo shopping today and seeing a condo and Haverford hills. An apartment listed for 184900, which I must say was priced way too high. Pictures on the internet are very deceiving. I was also disappointed in the condition of the building and the hallways. I guess they're not spending that HOA fee on any of those maintenance items.

I stayed here around 6 months during 2021, and looking forward to move out, as soon as possible. You can find a pros and cons section below the story. I was in a long journey, when I came back, I couldn't find my car, after some shock and trouble, learned that it has been towed by management company, due to some painting work (not exactly sure actually, as management company never answered me back, about why and when my car has been towed). Talking to Faith Diebel, Community Administrator, she advised to pay and get my car back, and the money should be reimbursed, also assured with her manager, Debbie O'Brien, as it was not due to any fault of mine. Towing company asked me, to pay $3150 in cash!!! Since I could only get $1350 (and some additional Ubering cost, not mentioning about the stress and the hassle caused), negotiated and get my car back. I didn’t receive a single email, communication or message, regarding I needed to move my car, due to some work in parking space. The reason for that, they said, my information was not still in their database. It had been 5 months since I moved in, I gave my information the Day One, and it hasn’t been yet recorded to their database to send me a message, either before towing, informing me about the future work on premises, or during 60 days of towing my car. Later, asking to landlord, he shared an email sent to him, which was mentioning about a painting work, but just sent 5 days before the day the work would be done. You would expect those things to be announced months ahead, after signing the contract. And if that was the notice, it would make 45days, not 60. Long story short, they didn't pay my money back, saying board declined it, as towing company made good enough discount!!! and I needed to inform them if I would be long away. Looking into their “ welcome pack” back again (by the way, I could only received the welcome pack, after a month of moving in, and after couple of requests), it says inform the office if you would be longer than 1-week. One would expect, if there is such an important rule, which may cause you to pay thousands of dollars out of the blue, you needed to make sure it is read and signed. And even in that case nothing would be changed, as they wouldn’t send me a message in time to take an action. And believe me there are ample amount of parking space in these establishments, they could just move my car to another spot, for whatever work they were doing, rather than towing it to the towing company. Debbie O'Brien sent a message saying board declined to pay, and this is something between me and my landlord, and didn’t respond to my two emails asking for the details. They also didn’t answer my landlords request to involve me in the board meeting to defend my case. They were determined not to make even an humanly apology. Pros: Very kind neighbors (at least which is my experience up to this day) My landlord, Carmen Salerno, a decent man of dignity, very good communication. My unit is well-renovated, with decent quality materials, components and workmanship, clean and new. Economical lease. Cons: Obviously condo management has no respect and feels no responsibility for the tenants Highway noise Very small windows Heating, water heating and cooking on electric, and tenant pays

Questions & Answers

Is there a no smoking policy at Haverford Hills Condominiums?

I'm almost positive that the whole complex is non smoking. I guess that you can smoke in the parking lot (please don't do it anywhere near me and don't just drop your butts in the parking lot. People that do really tick me off.) and there's a receptacle for cigarette butts (although I don't know if cigars should also be put in there) and I don't ever remember seeing anybody smoking in my building. I can guarantee you that if anyone ever lit up in my unit, I wouldn't have a very pleasant reaction. I absolutely despise smoking. And yes, people have a right to choose whether to smoke or not. But my late father, my brothers and I were exposed to my mother's smoking for decades and I had to watch her slow decline from emphysema and dementia (emphysema definitely from smoking and dementia, I strongly suspect, was also.) And now I have to worry about the possibility of cancer or other diseases from that second hand smoke for my younger brother and myself.

Are steps inside the condo living spaces!

Not to the best of my knowledge. I live in Building F and there's no steps in my condo and none, I'm fairly sure, in any of the other units.
