I did not feel that Oak Street Health could offer me any better services than I am receiving from my current provider. I advised that there were 2 key items that I wanted to cover in my visit. 1) a new glucose monitor setup 2) an INR home test meter. The doctor said she would have the nurse put in the order for the glucose meter and supplies. The pharmacy received an order for the alcohol wipes, no meter, no strips, etc. The doctor said she never heard of an at home INR tester. She asked the nurse who also said she was not aware of such a thing. I advised that I know that they exist and are covered by Medicare as I know someone who has one. The doctor did not offer to investigate or have me speak with a patient advocate. I thought this was interesting since the patient advocate feature was one of the reasons I decided to do an initial visit. I know that to get the INR meter there has to be a coordination between medicare and the prescribing physician's office. The service I received was not in alignment with what was presented at the presentation from Oak Street Health. I decided that there was no benefit for me to change my primary care provider base on this experience nor would I recommend Dr. Levine to anyone.
