The Hilltop is one of my favorite places to go. First, check their hours online because they are more limited than we are used to now a days. Secondly, make a reservation if you can because they get busy. The food is served family style so the only thing that you are ordering is your entree. All meals come with mashed potatoes and gravy, a salad, green beans, corn, delicious homemade yeast rolls, carrots and celery, beets, and tomato juice! Everything is very well prepared and tastes like grandma made it. You are GOING to leave full. This does not even count their massive selection of desserts that include traditional favorites that are rarely found anymore such as persimmon pudding. They also have an adorable little gift shop offering county style items and old time candy. Dress is casual.

Took the family here for a nice meal as I'd heard good things. Steak was excellent and cooked to order, sides were fine. Fried chicken would have been excellent except there was a fishy taste to it, I suppose from the frier oil. It was still good enough we'll be back to try it again since if it didn't have the fishy taste it would have been the best fried chicken I've had a long time. Service was good, we didn't have a reservation but we didn't have to wait super long either and the lobby is cozy enough that while you're waiting for your name to be called it's not uncomfortable.
