I love the place and have not been here for almost 3 years, I moved out of town. It seemed in those 3 years that the cleanliness has gone down, however, the food is still good and the employees I came across were friendly, helpful and made the experience so nice. I got a rotisserie chicken a few weeks ago and it was delicious however the cleanliness is still not up to par. Thank you

Eat there whenever I am in Des Moines. Last four times The chicken in the salads was very overcooked and chewy. This is not typical for the gateway market. Hopefully they will remedy this soon.

The clerks or kitchen staff mixed up my order today. And the sweet potato fries were soggy. Very disappointed for my first time ordering from the deli.

Breakfast sucks. Can’t even get a fried egg. The bacon is rubbery and their breakfast potatoes are horrible.

No, duck eggs are hard to find in Des Moines. Your best bet is to check some of the small Asian markets, but be careful about getting FRESH duck eggs, as the fermented ones are more common.
They do carry variety of Boar's Head meats, but you would have to check with the store for prices and current selection.
