Took my daughter here for the teen class. Reasonable prices on the classes and really showed her how to do basic things that she needed to learn. My daughter is ready for more classes.

My opinion is still out on this as there may have been some miscommunication.

I just discovered this absolutely wonderful place where "makers" go to learn and hang out with each other. They have a wide variety of classes, ranging from learning to make your own dress form to learning how to use a long arm quilting machine. You can take classes on how to operate a sewing machine, and how to read a pattern. Even if you are already a sewist, there is still plenty here to learn. They have donated fabric which they sell for $2 per pound, along with various other notions and used sewing machines for sale. You can also bring whatever home project you're currently working on and pay $10 per hour to work on it there, and it includes the use of their equipment, i.e. sewing machines, sergers, irons, scissors, pins, etc. So, if you are making a large quilt and don't have enough space to comfortably work on it at home, they have several large tables for you to use. This place is awesome, such a great idea, and I HIGHLY recommend!

Questions & Answers

I need to learn on my new sewing machine. Can I bring my own machine?

Becky Allhands (Material Whimsey) | Oct 25, 2019

Yes you can. The best thing to do is make an appointment if you need to learn how to use your machine so someone will be available.

I have donated fabric, but do you have a need for quilt magazines? Or do you have a suggestion where I might donate them?

They will take books too. I bought one from them.

Are there private tutors at this location?

Yes! If you ask for Dorothy, she offers private sewing lessons and she is a wonderful teacher

Do you need fabric?

Can you clarify your question? I believe they take donations. If your asking if you need to provide your own for projects, I believe so.

Will you accept nice, clean fabric from my Mother's stash? She is overloaded with many beautiful fabrics. Also, three bolts of drapery fabrics.

Yes, the owner gets the majority of her fabrics by donation. You could probably drop them off during her business hours or call and arrange pick up.
