If it’s windy lots of sand beating you. If there’s no wind the bugs are biting. However with all that said it is a beautiful place.

Yes you can.. just have to get a permit... At no cost at this time..
Yes, I would recommend getting sand stakes. It is free to camp for up to two weeks, after that then you need a permit. I recommend bringing your own water, some parts of the island are far from the water spouts and bathrooms, so prepare for primitive style camping.
Yes. Saw a couple of folks had set up tents on the beach. Not sure about permits.
It's all beach on north end and there are trails in the south end village that you can walk
