Love the place, the people, the selection of materials and the prices!

I needed some custom wood cut for a project. They helped me out with a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this company.

I love the selection of what they have. Everything from domestic to exotic.

Yes. Please bring a container & we would be happy to fill it with free sawdust.
They have s4s red oak boards. I've been in your shoes as a new woodworker just 6 months ago. I was also intimidated walking in my first time. Just go to the cashier desk and tell them you are justing getting into woodworking and looking for s4s red oak boards. They will show you where they are and be super helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Once you go to NW Lumber, you'll rarely go anywhere else. Good luck!
Yes we do have cedar 6x6x8' posts!
4/4, 5/4, 8/4 and 12/4 Random widths, mostly 8' lengths.
No hardware, sorry. Wood & hand tools.
Its kind of a loaded question. What do you need cut, HOW do you need it cut, etc. We only cut wood that we sell. That way if anything goes wrong it can be replaced. We can refer you to one of our customers if you need cuts made on something that you've already purchased or complicated cuts. Different cuts vary in cost. Time & the machine to be used are also factors.
Not currently. We have not been able to locate any.
Hello there. No, we only carry Birch prefinished (we call it UV Birch) and we have some in 1/4" (one sided), 1/2 (double sided), and 3/4 (double sided). We also have Maple in 1/2" unfinished. The Birch looks very similar to Maple, though. Come in & we'd be happy to show you.
Sorry, we do not
We would use our slab-flattening machine (60" wide) since our planer's maximum is 18 INCHES, not 22. First, we would have to inspect the piece. No promises until we see it for ourselves. If its dry and can be flattened, the going rate is about $120/hour. Mike or Jeff can look at it and estimate how long it will take to get it flat.
James, First, we need to inspect your project to make sure it can go into the machines. The planer max width is 18", the 'your wood' price is $35 set up and $1.50/bdft. The sander is 36" max and $45 for 10 minutes, then $3/minute after that. Make sure all of the excess glue is scraped off of your project, it will cut down on time. The slab-flattener is huge and goes by time and the slab-flattening fellows have to look at each individual project to determine how long it will take them to quote a price. In the future, to get the correct and most accurate answers, call the store or send us an email directly. Thank you.
No logs. Furniture grade lumber. Furniture grade live edge slabs. You can find this and more information on Northwestlumberco.com.
Yes they do. I had to have mill work done Friday am was pleased. It's not free but done correctly
They do have Live Edge Slabs. Most of the time the bark, over time, will fall off of those but you can glue it back on if desired. Wood types depend on the day. Sizes depend on the day. Just call or go in and look.
Nope. Nothing is scrap. They have discounted cut-offs in a bin. FrMee pallets, though. No cuts on the pallets, take them as they are. Indy urban hardwood probably has free cut offs
Yes we do.
No sir we do not. We used to carry building supplies like that for roofing & such, but haven't since the 70's, maybe even earlier.
We have free whole entire pallets but we cannot do ANY millwork on them. You can take them as they are. But also we have a TON of domestic woods! Such as red oak, ash, white oak, a little bit of knotty pine, some cedar....just to name a few of the more rustic-looking woods... which will also be much easier to work with than a potentially chemically-treated pallet. Working with pallets can be dangerous because of the toxic chemicals.
That's it...Thanks! I will stop and pick up a copy the next time I'm in the area!
